Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Performance Shipping -- Not so bad

I know people give Performance a hard time, but I ordered some Speedplay cleat covers at around mid-day Monday and they got here today, Thursday.

This isn't especially important, but given the attacks on their uhhh . . .performance, I thought I ought to say something when they do a good job.

I don't work for Performance, by the way.

I ordered a pair of Louis Garneau booties on Saturday night and they got to me on Wednesday. I was plenty pleased with that service. I order a pair of adidas knee warmers from Nashbar about 1 hour later and they're still not here.

EDIT: the knee warmers...STILL not here. They may be the same company, but it appears they certainly do not share the same shipping practices if they're indeed operating independently (as has been mentioned by others) of one another.

You isolated case doesn't set a new norm, but I will say that negative news travels 10 times further than positive. I have yet to have a problem with Performance or Nashbar.

Big deal. Eddie Bauer once overnighted underwear to me, which is way better than anything Performance has done for me. Not sure if I paid more, I think perhaps the prospect of me going without, drove them to action.
P.S. I don't work for EB.

Sounds like an average shipping time, not necessarily worth an attaboy.

Nashbar usually takes over a week to get from Ohio to PA.

When they say "Ground," they mean Parcel Post.

When they say "Air," they mean UPS Ground.

I can't imagine sort of expedited service "Overnight" might get you.

I hate their shipping. Customer service agents do not seem to see eye to eye with me, but "Ground" seems to quite strongly suggest "UPS Ground" just as "Air" suggests, well, not "UPS Ground." It is deceptive, and I think intentionally so.

Maybe I'll try Performance next time.

I order from probikekit (England) and it takes 4-5 business days to get to FL. I order from Performance or Nashbar and it takes 6-12 business days with no pattern to Why. Ridiculous is the best way I can describe it.

Mainly because it takes them 2-3 days to "process your order" in house before it even gets to shipping. Then they throw it on trucks actually used by nomadic tribes to wander the globe.

You're lucky you even see it.

+1 about PBK. Shipping is supreme vs Performance. Price is too. Selection is better as well. Who were we talking about again?

If you're a Performance member, you get UPS second day shipping at the cost of ground shipping. I'm in CA and I get things quite quickly. Nashbar, OTOH, is quite slow.

If you'll buy more than $250 of stuff from Performance, it pays to be a member, since you get 10% back as credits. If you buy online, you can return locally. Watch the sales, and overall it's a good deal. Anyone do any returns to PBK?

Not all of us have Performace stores locally and if we did tax would be included on our sales driving the cost up even more.

I have always had excellent service from Performance and that's the reason they 95% of my business. I am a Team Performance member so getting 10% back from everything I buy is great, especially on top of the regular 10%-20% coupons. I find that they usually have the lowest prices, and if not always the lowest it usually ends up evening out considering the 10% back in points, upgraded shipping, and easy returns. One of the biggest reasons Performance will continue to get my business is because of their return policy. If I ever have an issue with a product I purchased they always take care of me.

Another thing I really like that they've recently started doing is the free shipping to retail stores. At first I hesitated to use this since they quote it will take two weeks to arrive at the stores. However, I have used this a couple times now and it always ships same day and arrives 2-3 days later at my stores. This saves me another $10-$20 per order.

Previously, there was no minimum order for free shipping to store. Now, you have to order at least $50 to get free shipping to the store, which kind of sucks now.

I 'm not too far, so I try to red phone it when I'm in the store. I wish they still had free shipping to store, though.

Performance shipping usually takes 7-14 days to arrive to me after an order.....PBK 5-7days after ordering.....it doesn't make sense to me, but that's how it works....now I do use Peformance if they offer the lowest price or have something I can't find elsewhere...but I also don't expect to get it in a hurry.

I have yest to have a problem with Performance personally. Most things take around 4-7 days to get here to Vegas. Not stellar, but not horrible. A couple of vendors I have used on eBay were 2-3 days, Cambria and wheelandsprocket. Lick Bike was decent too.

To return to this once more, I ordered some shorts on Wednesday mid day. When I got home on Thursday they were there. They got them to me in 24 hours give or take an hour or two.

No doubt some people have problems with Performance, but it's hard for me to argue with 24 hours.

I don't work for Performance, but if they like wanted to give me something free for talking them up, I'd take it.

I only order nutrition stuff from Performance and the occasional shorts for the wife for spin class. I'm 1 state away from their distribution site and as a Performance member, I get 2-day shipping. I have found if I order prior to 12pm EST, I get my package the next day.
Nashbar is like 7-10 days, ugh. PBK ships faster via boat (4-5 day avg).

Last order I placed was on a Monday morning. Received on Wednesday. 2-nd day club "upgrade". Better performance (get it) than before.

I find Performace to be ok, most of the time i have my order in three days.

Now if you want to see Slow shipping try this web store out
https://www.bikesomewhere.com/bikesomewhere.cfm

They ship by slow Donkeys, it takes well over a week to get anything from
them and their in the same State I`m in.

I've never had a problem with Performance.

I would have no problem recommending them to another rider.

Yeah, now let us combine orders and save on shipping

I just placed an order at Nashbar, and an order at Performance, because of a price disparity in some of the items I wanted to purchase (skewed further by the two different coupon codes being offered by Performance and Nashbar). Even with two seperate shipping fees, it was still cheaper than buying it all at one shop...

I don't think I have had issues with any vendor and this includes performance.
Well.. lickbike could use a bit of improvement on their communications but all in all that is the only complaint I have.
