Ultegra vs. 105 Cassette???
Why would you get an Ultegra cassette versus a 105 cassette?
I realize it's only a couple of Dollars difference between the two but they are made with the same material and weigh just about the same.
What gives?

This is a good question. I have this cassette now. Shimano 105, 12-25T 10-speed so why would I want to upgrade this unless the gearing was not sufficient for me.
If I was to upgrade I think i would go straght to Dura Ace.
I am interested in the answer to these questions also.

There's no reason at all. Dura-Ace is lighter, but other than that, go cheap. I've been loving my $30 SRAM cassettes.

The Ultegra cassettes use a carrier for the last 3 cogs to lighten the assembly. Apart from that they are the same.
DA cassettes make use of Ti in the larger cogs. The one I have has 2 of the aluminum carriers carrying Ti cogs. Much lighter. Ti cogs do not wear as well though.
Generally get the cheapest cassette you can that still performs well. Personally I always buy the Ultegra one. The DA was a gift.

So it looks like if you are buying now you should choose the Ultegra cassette. It looks like there is no reason at all for me to want to upgrade the 105 cassette I already have unless i want to change the gear ratios.

Note that my SRAM has a carrier, and is lighter than the comparable Ultegra. But this is 9-speed, so I don't know what the 10-spd cassette world looks like right now. Still, lighter cassette, smooth shifting, for $30. Sweet.

I would recommend Ultegra if you are using Shimano shifters.
