Made The Switch To Clipless!!
Okay, so tonight was my first real ride using clipless. And damn, I don't know how I survived without them. I literally doubled my distance with the same amount of energy. I've already fallen though; stupid drivers. I am riding down a busy street at about 35 MPH. And all the sudden, for no reason at all, the car in front of me just slammed on his breaks. So I slammed on mine. Well, I slow down and am just about to come to a complete stop, when all the sudden I realized "OH SH*T I DIDN'T UNCLIP." So down I went, it didn't hurt, just embarrassing as hell. My favorite was a comment by a young male who said "Son, how long you be ridin'." Hopefully with practice I'll get it down to a natural reaction. But I felt good when I rode up along side a club ride and noticed when they were forced to come to an abrupt stop, some had equal struggles.

Welcome to the club, I was about half way on the ground today with a new set of pedals with less float than I'm used to and just got out in time. It happens.

I actually tried my clipless pedals for the first time today too!
I didn't fall but it definitely feels different. Hopefully, this can increase my ride distance.

I tried some clipless pedals that were inexpensive, and then switched to Shimano - what a difference!

Yeah, everyone has that n00b moment where they forget to unclip. Only happened to me once; I never had that problem again after that.

i fell at a busy intersection. everyone falls.
on a side note, I was riding my commuter today (flat pedals) I took a downhill corner hard and went to sprint up the ensuing hill. Unfortunately, I was still in my 39-21, so the pedaling had no effect. My foot slipped off, and before I knew it I was riding on my toptube. Not comfortable. Clipless pedals are good.

first time I used clipless(on my MB) I was 5 min into the ride and down I went onto the asphalt, still clipped in, the scars on my elbow remind me now to unclip...made me feel smart...(right in front of my gf too)...
