shimano brifters

why are the new ones soo huge compared to the old ones? I have an 04 model and the brofters are so much smaller and i love them that way....

I thought the new Dura-Ace ones were alittle toned down and the hoods were more like Campy? I love how my 105's feel.

I believe the newer ones are larger to allow you to use what I call the "Superman position" where you rest the heels of your hands on the hoods to get a stretched out aero position.

It could also be that the superman position just works better with these shifters...

Either way I like this position so who cares. +1

That's what that's called?! I just did that a few rides ago and was SO stoked on it haha, I still like my poor mans aero bar position better (resting your fore arms on your handle bars haha).

I have no idea what it's called or if it even has an official name. I "invented" it in 1994 and that's what I called it, but I'm quite sure I'm not the first to do so.

The new 07-08 ? ultegra brifters are thicker just right for that position that urbanknight invented. You seem to be able to stretch out and wrap your hand into that round area.
