Took a chance and got on the bike tonight....AMAZING
So this has been a pretty depressing week as far as trying to finally get a handle on my medical condition (for those of you that have talked to me about it). I've stayed away from riding just because of the light headiness I tend to get afterwards that aggravates my dizziness for a few days after I ride.
I couldn't take it anymore though and went out and did 20 miles with a good solid climb, I felt stronger than I thought I would and kept a average of 17 mph. It's not where I was at before I started feeling this way but it's not half bad. This ride really got my motivation up, I think riding is the only thing keeping my head up; or more accurately, the idea of riding. ALSO I tried Chamois Butter tonight for the first time...good god...where have you been all my life. |
Glad to hear that you got a ride in.
Sorry to hear they have not been able to figure out whats going on. |
At least you got out there and rode.
|
I'm glad you are feeling a little better.

Yah, it's the most bizzare thing I've ever experienced in my life, i mean the week before it happened I was running in the morning at least 4 miles 5 days a week before work then doing at least 50-60 miles on the bike on the weekend and some random riding in the week (wasn't too hot on riding at that point). I had just completed my first century after only 4 or so months of riding road bikes, I was feeling amazing, and it all fell apart.
Well one day at a time. I'm off to the neurologist in the next 2 weeks and back to the ear nose and throat (who was the worst doctor I've ever dealt with in my life!). Thanks for the support! |
Good luck at the doctor.

best of luck at the docs nick!
the bike is good for the attitude. Maybe the dizziness thing has passed???? |
Hmm hopefully your issues are as simple as super-dehydration, always glad to see anyone's bicycling stoke-o-meter on the high.

Just kidding! :) Good luck with getting the medical condition straightened out, and I hope you're back to training full time soon. |

Wait....you can use chamois butter while riding, but how do you ride in the drops with one han....OH. :roflmao2: |
photonick,
so I had the same exact problem as you a couple months ago. All of a sudden I was completely dizzy for no reason at all. I saw all sorts of doctors; primary care, ear nose and throat, neurologists, etc. They did all sorts of tests on me including an MRI and found absolutely nothing. However, by the time I scheduled all these tests, etc., the feeling got milder and milder. A month later, the feeling was barely noticeable and eventually went away. All I can say is that it is quite possible you got some kind of virus that got into your head and messed with your equilibrium. I have a question though. When you are standing up, do you lose your balance very easily? If the room is spinning when you are standing still, you may have a case of vertigo, but if your balance is off and you have lightheadedness, I am guessing that will go away after some time. Hope that helps. |
