^^^^ congrats Jynx. dropping under 2 bills was a big thing for me. at 6'3'' and 240 lbs starting weight i never thought i would see a number with a 1 in front of it. that was in 2006, i checked in at 173 lbs this morning. i ate a small pizza last night by myself. life is good. cycling is good. later.

I have gone from 224 when I began cycling to 215 in about my first 3 weeks. These last 2 weeks I have lost another 6 pounds. Putting me at 209.
So I have lost 15 pounds in 5 weeks and still dropping.
Also, I have gone from 29.5% body fat to roughly 21%.
My pant size has gone from 38 to a 35.
All this in about five weeks and I am going to be riding much more once I get a better saddle.
I have to admit though that i have a delayed allergy to milk that I was unaware of. I used to drink about 5 gallons of milk a week for basically my whole life. So that is the only reaso why I gained all the weight in the first place.

The worst thing about losing weight is the number of perfectly fine pants that go to Goodwill. I went from 44 in waste to 34 in. But as problems go its not a bad one to have..

I buy expensive denim, but I don't think it could be any more expensive than a lifelong need for diabetes pills, elastic wasteband replacements, or medical bills.

1978 was 205 lbs and other then a year or two that I ballooned to 241 in the mid 80's, I have been between 215 to 230
Took up cycling in 2002...
2004 was at 231 and getting dropped on any hill. strict modified south beach diet and a lot more riding got me down to 200 by august 2005... slowly went back up to 210 until this past winter when I had issues that prevented me from riding as much and I eat when stressed.. blew back up to 222 in june... been on a mild diet since and riding a lot more... down to 211 and hope to be at 205 by the end of the month.. may try to get below 200 again...

I used to be in the low 240's, but I've been putting on a lot of miles the past two years and am around 220 and have been hovering around 220 for the past year or so. Even though I've really increased my weekly milege and hilly rides this year, I still haven't dipped far below 220, but I probably could only realistically drop another 10-15 lbs. I've also been working out my upper body more, so I might have gained some muscle, and I've went from a 38 to a 36 too.

20 years ago- 205- 150' I lost 55 pounds riding everyday- even got rid of my golf clubs to buy a child seat to place on the back of the bike use to take my son riding with me....
got divorced- bummed for a long time- gained it all back and then some....:0)
15 years started dating again- ran and biked until it all came off again only got to 168 that time though...
Now 230- been trying to lose the weight before it is to late and too hard lose it :0)
Bet my brother 50. I could lose 30 pounds in a month, a few months ago, went on a long motorcycle ride weekend trip and dropped 10 pounds---water I guess, I thought for sure I would be able to do it, but didn't feel like putting the effort forth so needless to say. gained it all back...
I had to send him 50. dollars....:0(
woke up today at 208.6... So, I promptly went out at 12:23 and road 31.8 miles.....Goal was to be at 210 before I turned 46. But now I have 5 months to try and drop some more......new goal 190 by time I turn 46. But i hope to do a lot better.....

I gained weight.
But thats only cause I came from a strong cross-country running background.
Before:
130 pounds, sometimes slightly less.
Now:
135-140 pounds tops, but now I have abs (work those out alot) and bigger meaner legs after 11 mo. cycling.
Currently riding ~200mi/week avg. Did 85 today with a fast club that i've joined.
By the way Im 5'9.5"
you better believe it just like alberto
I can climb, but too bad I can't TT for **** yet

About 10 pounds. The long rides seem to yield the greatest results.
Also, here's the new and first road bike, sans the white garage door. I think it's facing in the correct direction, but won't have a clue if you tell me to flip something.

OK - The Bee will weigh in. Down 18 pounds since I bought the Bike - end of May and 28.5 pounds since I started to cut back on the food April 21. Just eating less- Lot of meals at Subway (the 6 inch Sub...). Anyway I have a ways to go - but biking sure does help...and this site is such a great great motivator.
Hopefully one day I will post a before and after picture that will knock ya socks off...

I'm 5'11". Started riding again in April 2005 after a five year layoff for major back issues (failed back surgery, 4 years on oxycontin, etc.). When I stopped taking the oxycontin I weighed about 210 lbs (the most I ever weighed). When I started riding my bicycle three weeks later I was about 200lbs. By October of that year, I was about 165 lbs, and I looked like this:

I'm within about 3 lbs of that weight today. Cycling saved my life.
