Shoe/pedal compatibility
 

I may be asking a question that may have no answer cause I checked and everyone says either go one way or another but there is not hybrid solution.

I use my bike a lot but the road shoes I have to wear are just not right when I go to work. I am talking about the few steps I take till I get to my office. Still, I sound too loud and attract everyone's attention. Yet, I want those shoes and those speedplay zeros on my bike for my daily or weekend training (I do 20 - 25 mls a day on weekends). So is there a way I can have a pair of mountain bike shoes that can accommodate the speedplays so I don't sound too clunky and loud? I don't think it is wise to have a bike only to exercise. Afer all, I don't use my feet only to run. I hope someone has designed a mountain bike shoe that can take road cleats too.

If people are getting distracted by a guy wearing cleats, then they need a pay cut.

The speedplay cleats are huge, you cannot put them on a mountain bike shoe. Not going to happen. But you can get cleat covers (I think they call them Cafe covers) that are made of rubber and there is no sound. Also, I have Sidis and they have a rubber heel piece. This makes a full rubber walking surface, and it is not difficult or noisy to walk on.
