Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Can somebody identify year of this Lemond?

I just picked up a bike recently and could not figure out the year from the Lemond or Bikepedia websites. It's a Buenos Aires and here are some specs:

Lemond Buenos Aires

Reynolds 853 frame
8 speed cassette
Shimano 105 crankset
Shimano 105 8 speed STI shifters
Mavic Open Rims
Selle San Marco Saddle with Lemond logo
Cinelli Handlebars

Does anybody have any clue as to what year this is? I was thinking a 98, but they didn't start using the 853 until 99, right? But that was also the year, it seems, they switched to te 9 speed cassette.

I'd venture it's a 99 model.

I'll try to get some pictures up tonight as I'm at work, but it's solid red with yellow lettering of buenos aires and lemond on the frame. The fork has yellow lettering as well, but there is no block of alternate colors around it (typically the white you see on the lemond bike).

Yea, I saw the bikepedia, I was thinking maybe the site was wrong on the cassette? Because the one I have is definitely 8 speed and the shifters are the 8 speed 105 STI because they have the hex-bolt on the front of them.
