Principia Frames
Anybody know anything about Principia frames? I found this used one on CL, it costs as much as my Nashbar frame. Is it a good frame? It's certainly good looking.

Very very nice. More popular in Europe than here, there was a move to get more US distributors but it seems to have faded away. Definitely among the best aluminum big tube frames (what the photo looks like) but they also make CF models. Try to find out the model. and check against the website.

Top notch frames. I wanted to get one here in the states but it was way to much money compared to a Cannondale CAAD frame. I still really want one and probably will get one when I get the money.

I rode one for a day , about 65 miles. I quite liked it. My friend in Germany has two so I get to borrow one. They are pretty rare over here. And I couldn't say how they compare to Cannondale.

The Aluminum frames from Principia are by far the best in the aluminum frame on the market, they would make Cannondale look like cheap junk! Principia has the highest level of stress before frame failure of any other AL frame on the market. If you want the best aluminum frame Principia is the one to buy.
Personally though I don't like aluminum frames, but that's a whole another issue that would cause a flame war you would not want to see. |
Yep, alu Principia frames are meant to be one of the best. I'd buy one in a second!

"they would make Cannondale look like cheap junk!"
I thought they were junk already :P |
I have a Boreas Ignis Frame and forks and it looks as though Boreas were taken over by Principia. Mine is aluminium and it works. Lightweight Frame and forks and these Frames are not made- they are Engineered.
Link to the Boreas site is http://www.boreas-bikes.dk/pages/ignis.html Now this is a lightweight Aluminiun Frame and Aluminium is heavier that CF- is stiffer than CF- and will give a harsh ride. Not this one- I have a Giant TCR-C frame and the Boreas rides better- is lighter and I would say the CF frame is skittish in comparison to the Boreas. If it fits and is cheap enough- Get it. |
Quick question. I found a used Principia tt28 frame on Craigslist but I can't seem to find out ANYTHING about them online. Does anyone have the inside scoop? I'm looking to build a road bike from this, and from what I hear about the tt28 on other forums it's a great ride. But they don't specify if they're talking about tri/tt or road. I know it's probably better suited to TT... I guess I'm just hoping for a miracle here hahaha
Any help would be appreciated. |
^ Hmmm, start a thread about it. :thumb:
That's definetly a thread-worthy question |
Almost pulled the trigger on one with full Chorus. I think it sold for around $750.
