Sit bone measuring tool & lbs

I made an earlier thread asking why my shorts wear out early. I thought I should measure my sit bone and check to see if my saddle is the correct size for my bum. I figured a wrong sized saddle might be resulting in my saddle being prone to worn out.

Do you have to go in cycling clothes to get your bum impression? And also, do people on here know if there is a fee for such a service. I read on an old thread that it costs quite some money. And I would rather not measure it at home and run the risk of having someone see me measuring my *****, that would be too hard to explain lol.

Thanks.

The shop where I work carries the Bontrager Inform-r (or whatever they're called) saddles. We have the "sit bone" measuring tool, and there is no charge. Bike shorts would be ideal, but nothing too baggy is alright.

^^ That is somewhat disturbing, and I don't disturb easily.

The Specialized system is based on U.S. Patent No. 7,284,336, and uses memory foam. Here are some of the patent drawings.

Ha Ha! The Bontrager one is like that too. That and the inseam measuring tool are both rather akward. "Here sir, put this spring loaded stick between your legs."

I went and got my sit bone measured with the specialized brand measuring pad. I was told I am on the border of a 143 and a 155. Would the more aggressive riding position be one which would be fitting of a 143 in my situation? Based on the specialized measuring pad, a less aggressive and more relaxed riding position would be one which would require me to bump up to a 155 saddle. Depending on riding position I can go either size. I was also having this newly developed literal pain in the *****, and I raised the seat a bit at the shop and I was told that should do the trick. If the issue of pain and my bibs wearing out aren't solved, I think then I need to get myself a toupe.

Thanks again everyone for your help. I just wanted to have posted an update.
