Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Giant Defy

I've done a little research and this looks like a good upcoming bike from Giant. I was set on the Trek 1.5, but the Defy has peaked my interest. Does anyone know if they are in stores yet, or how much the different models will cost?

Tri, while people were getting a littl confused with the names, the Defy is a completely different bike from the TCR's.
For the exta hundred bucks you're spending this year (because of oil, tansporatation, etc just to keep the profit margint he same as last year) you're getting a far superior frame, laterally stiffer fork, slightly better componentry, a saddle you might actually use (SLR lookalike) full carbon seatpost, and a really good looking paintjob.

so;
-Defy 3 has '08 Sora 8spd groupset, Alex wheels, and everything above
-Defy 2 has '09 Sora (same brifter design as the new Di2) and Tiagra 9spd group, Mavic CXP22 rims/Formula hubs, as well as a new Hollowtech FSA crankset.
-1 1/8-1 1/4 headset across the board
-Color matched bars, stem, seatpost
-I haven't seen the 1's yet, but I thinkt hey are available, not sure of price, but probably $1100-1200 with full 105
-Carbon fiber models have press-fit BB bearings

Ask me if you want to know more. I'm the RoadWarrior of Giant.

I just bought one

Last weekend I bought the Defy 3. My previous ride was a tandem so this bike handles like a sports car. I paid $760.00 and am very pleased with it. Very nice frame, good paint job, and decent components.

I'm not sure of the exact name of the new Defy carbon, that replaces the former OCR-C3, but it will cost $2000. This is the model equipped with 105 and comes as a double or triple, same price. I just checked it out today.

Are you sure it's not the Defy Allaince Carbon-Aluminium frame, rather than the all carbon frame?

Giant is the largest bike manufacturer on the planet.

Our shop is the largest dealer of Giant in the US.

I know them very, very well.

BTW...the Defy aluminum frame is a half pound lighter than the old OCR frame. Totally redesigned.

You didn't mention that important fact.
