Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What about this?

My brother has a GMC Denali road bike. Hes had it since april. Its a pretty good bike so far. It does feel not as stiff as my puegeot, but its a good bike. The only problems we've had so far is the rear tube has slow leak. Its weird because it will hold air all day then i go in for 5-10 min and its completley flat. I add air and it holds air agian fine. also today the rear wheel started making a squeaking sound and got off to check it a rim has slight side to side wobble. Could it be the hub is just loose? Any help is appreciated. Also what experinces have other people had with this bike. Is it worth upgrading to make lighter?

As for the slow leak I'd get a new tube for $3-5 and be done with it.

The wheel being out of true all you need is a spoke wrench and to read a few websites on how to true a wheel. You should be able to get it reasonably true using your brakes as indicators.

For the sqeak noise, The chain may need cleaning an lubrication. On a budget I'd use simple green and a rag and toothbrush to clean it first. Then rinse the chain off with water. Then apply chainsaw bar oil, a quart is about $2 at Walmart. Rotate the pedals backwards for a few minutes then wip off excess from surfaces.

the squeaking noise is not from the chain. its coming from the rear hub.

Wow, over half an hour and nobody has bagged on the guy for having a Denali? As for the hub, its probably the bearings... either they are out of tolerance or weren't greased properly or weren't sealed very well.

Edit: Assuming they even have bearings and not just bushings of some sort...

we have had 4 of those things in our shop non stop. as far as the flat goes, those wheels have major amounts of burrs/etc in them, we have had two customers with the bikes getting almost instantaneous flats from just the wheel itself, even with cloth rim tape and every conceivable boot it just was a no go.
