WTF? Slamming the stem is only stupid if it means you don't use the drops. It's stupid not to go as low as you comfortably can.

Plus, your mechanic doesn't think you're a wanker for it, unlike the QR thing.

Thanks for helping to point out how stupid this thread has become.

People get respect/kudos/props for things like hiding QR levers behind frame tubes, and "slamming the stem".

Now that is hot, literally I think .

But that is what this thread was all about to start with - some stupid fun. So why try and take the fun out.
IDK, I like to see well presented, clean, mean looking machines that are beyond "my bike", just for fun. It isn't much fun anymore,

getting criticized for proper placement of skewers, versus what some people think looks hot? That is just stupid.

I know the bike I posted isn't hot(it's hot garbage), but at least know WTF "you" are talking about when giving criticism.

I was freaking half joking in the first place - you were like "is that all you have? bring it on". Then you start getting serious and prissy about your skewers. If you want to poke fun, take some pokes. Crikey.
You are clearly intent on taking the fun out of here. And yes it is definitely not hot and it is not garbage Phil, so?

I put "you" in quotes because I don't have a problem with you personally, but with people that give critique like that.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding

You say the premise of this thread is stupid as are critiques about stems not slammed, etc. I get that, and was going with it. But when I criticized your QR lever position, you said it was a "newbe" mistake to think that they should line up with the stays and fork and that yours were proper. I thought you were just kidding around still but now I think t you were offended and took it seriously. Do you see some irony there?

For me I wouldn't post my bikes here because they have disk brakes which would not considered hot. :D My thru-axle levers can be rotated to any position without loosening or tightening the axle, so I have them lined up with my fork and chain-stay. LOL.

That's why I posted this here. If you want to critique bikes, you should offer up your's for criticism

Offended? Not even slightly.

You are absolutely wrong, but you are allowed to be wrong.

Sometimes I point my front QR forward just to **** with people.

TimothyH 05-04-18 09:43 PM

Bontrager components will never be hot.

"Post a pic of your bike and then let folks reply with quote of hot...r not. Simple eh?"

But I'll provide you with a nice opportunity to bash one of my bikes (which - btw - has a hand built frame and stem) Note that I genuinly don't care if you don't like it ;)

I'm deleting all your posts in this thread, 1500SLR. I recommend not posting in here anymore.

Okay lets stop the arguing. This is the Hot or Not thread about bikes. This is not the "who is smarter, who is better, who knows more, which country is better thread".

Don't ruin this thread any further than it has been.

You are going to see some posts deleted from this thread as said above and if you are affected, it's because you quoted someone in your defense but since that person's post is gone, no use your reply being here as well.

Fair enough, that's why I posted pics of one of my own bikes to get this thread (and probably the bashing with a lot of "nots") going :)

Hot might not be the best way to describe your ride. I don’t care for your shifter choice, but that bike is dead sexy.

Definitely hot, aside from the saddle pack and bars... Background could be better, too.

What's up with the DT lever for the front? Campy's front shifting is a fave for many, with good reason. BTW, you could use a hood from an Escape shifter on that gutted Ergo and just have an unused hole instead of an unused slit.

If I remember correctly, Campagnolo had 10spd record available with DT shifters and standard brake levers, or with Ergopower shifters..

Homebrew01 05-05-18 09:09 PM

Additionally, posting your bike in here, subjects you to the possibility you will receive "not" posts .If you do not want "not" posts about your bike, don't post your bike.

And the "not" posts are to be directed at bikes, not BF members.

This is one of those occasions where I lament the lack of a one eyebrow raised emoticon.

I know they offered Record brake levers without any shift mechanism, because i had a pair. I purchased them NIB from Universal Cycles. Perhaps they were designed to be used with barend shifters.

Here's a set.

That's less surprising than the DT shifters, but come to think of it, I seem to recall 10s Dura Ace DT shifters were a thing...

10 speed Dura-Ace DT shifters are definitely a thing. Some people convert Campagnolo bar -end shifters to DT, but that's completely different.
