Road Cycling ôIt is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.ö -- Ernest Hemingway

Different yes, Hot no.......
Frame graphics really kill an otherwise........ average looking frame.
Add on bulky SPD pedals and multi color brakes and its a no win to my eye.

I agree about the pedals. I have 105s on the way (not that they are too much better weight wise, I am pretty loyal to Shimano pedals). Also, the Tektro brakes are less than half the weight of the Shimano 105's and have a multi location speed select lever plus offer quite a bit more stopping power. Either way, it's a damn nice ride. Love the SL2 though. Sweet bike as well.

I really like those bars, and the flat lower section is nice along with the aero. Seems like Time actually implemented all the right components of an aero bar and ergo.

New pedals will help immensely in the HOT department. Your bike would be hot most anywhere besides here.....lol. There is some heavy competition in this thread.

I completely understand. I mean sure, next to some of the BMC's and leejs TIME machnine, there is almost a level of impossibility to equal them unless you're on a 20k budget. You can get this bike built up in SRAM red as well. That makes it very pulled together in the looks department.

VA_Esquire - what is that in reference to?

Everything is hot, except the frameset.

I understand the appeal of "handmade in Italy," but the $5000 frameset pricepoint is likely to be a tough sell in the US with limited brand recognition.

I love LW stuff (That RD is gorgeous), but I am scratching my head a little on this one and see it more as a fetish piece. You can buy many of the parts used in the LW as aftermarket (KCNC tuned parts) and convert your own derailleur into the stoopid light realm for a fraction of the cost.

For Campy SR11 build..

RD $440
Kaiser Bolt Tuning Kit $60
KCNC Titanium/Ceramic Pulleys $300
Fibre-Lyte Carbon Mech Plate $35

That's $835 versus the $1440 of the LW and same performance.

SRAM Red you can go even nuttier...97 grams!

Here is a 97 gram Red Derailleur using the same parts as above...that's 23 grams lighter than the LW. Sure we're talking about 23 grams here...but that would make the tuned Red RD 20% lighter than the LW, and I would wager that the Red RD has better shifting performance.

I dare not post my bike. What was white bartape is now a beige/brown mix. Duct tape is wrapped around my right bar end and right shifter. Frame is speckled with thick mud. 4 spacers above the stem (though the stem itself is flipped).

Yeah, but you're riding your bike in Belgium so it instantly attains more hotness, not to mention more badassness. That's not a word. But I invented it because it's fitting for this discussion.

Carry on.
