Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Madone 5.2 Project One

Hoping to be able to flip the stem in a month or two... I'm still as green as my bike!

Minor improvments to the stable via the unique world that is CL... worked a great deal on a NOS 2009 808/1080 clincher set. Yeah, got some funky custom stickers but, since I essentially got the rear 1080 for fee, who cares. New standard white stickers are a cheap, easy remedy.

Anyway, I went out on with the P2 out for a quick 25 mile test ride this morning and OMG they are soo sweet. Rrrr, Rrrrr, whoosh whoosh. They way they carry momentum and speed is intoxicating.

So after this mornings ride, I removed my 08 ZedTech build 404s on my R3 to install new stickers and clean the cassette today so swapped over the 09 404 Max set that was on my P2.

No offense taken, color is not for everyone. Had I not gotten such a sweet deal on it and was buying new I would not have picked this color.

Moot point now, I was struck by an suv yesterday on my first 20mi ride about 1/4 of a mile from home. Bike is destroyed, threw me across 2 lanes landing in the center turning lane. Incredibly, no broken bones... very banged up, mild concussion, and in pain, but I'll be ok thankfully.

Funny thing, I always thought riding a LIME GREEN bike would help me be seen a little easier. Apparently not!

Damn. sbxx1985 must have cursed that bike when he said that. Or the SUV driver reads this forum and decided to take justice into his own hands.

Don't forget to get to a doctor, even if you don't think you need to just yet. You never know, plus insurance will cover it.

Indeed! And I shall, making appts with my primary care as well as an orthopedic dr. Have to make sure.

LOL! Indeed, guess this is one way of changing bike colors (though probably not the optimal way!) Hmm... wonder if Trek's lifetime crash warranty on the Madone's would apply?? I'm thinking not... ;-)

Tell them you were just riding along and it exploded. They will understand.

The bike may have been cursed, but the rider that remains in one piece can count some blessings.
