Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That said, I don't think that is the case with the Parlee. I'm sure he would have a standard 6 or 7 degree stem if he didn't need that much drop, but the fact he has that aggressive stem should mean he does need to have it slammed and hasn't gotten around to cutting the steerer, or just doesn't want to.

How pathetic...

to post a picture of your bike with an artificial representation of your setup. Oh, right, but it looks more aesthetically pleasing that way to you. ughh

It's a picture of a bike... not a picture of me riding a bike. It's part of photography. If you can't understand that, then you're pathetic, ignorant, and closed-minded. Most people also ride with saddle bags, bottle cages and bottles, but for the purpose of this thread, those things are removed.

You're new and don't know what this thread is about. Looking aesthetically pleasing is what this thread is about. If it bothers you just ignore this thread.

My comment was strictly about fit and nothing more. I didn't realize how ridiculous it was to post a pic of your bike correctly portrayed for riding.

Edit: I should note, before Ravenmore posts 26 pictures of his bike again, that I meant the A1 Allez, not the E5. Also, I figured you would start point ot eh differences. But it is much closer to say, my allez.

Not a submittable for Hot or Not just a show of comparison against the Synapse. (I know I know, wrong gear, walls aren't perfect. No garage) Pic was taken like 1 year ago. just to show off the new then wheels.

Hey now - look, don't come in here with your 5 posts and start looking down your nose at something you have no idea what you're talking about. This is a completely pithy and shallow thread, and we like it that way.

Seriously, if you don't like this thread go play somewhere else. There are plenty of threads for posting bikes as you ride them on a daily basis.

Why in Gods would you post this bike in this thread? That is an eye sore! So many things to pick on that isn't worth the time to list them all.

Im tired of people turning this thread into a "show us your bike". If your bike is plain stock ....dont post it in this thread! If you have 2 mismatched wheels and bartape is 2 different colors....DON'T POST IT IN THIS THREAD! If your bike still has its wheel reflectors and dork disc...DON'T POST IT IN THIS THREAD! IF YOUR BIKE IS LEANING AGAINST A GARBAGE CAN AND YOU TAKE A PICTURE OF IT, DON'T POST IT AT ALL....ANYWHERE.

Nah, I'm sure that's not true. You know I love what you've done to that bike, I was just saying that wasn't really the one I was referring too.

Just got some promising news in that I will most likely be inheriting a very lightly used Force group for my carbon bike. Which means I should post it now to say how it fares before and after. This also means, I will be dropping my 105 group down to the Allez. So what do you guys think as of now, before group changes?

Wow. Cry harder. I'm proud of my bike and what I've accomplished on it hence why I posted it. A simple "not" would've sufficed. At least it wasn't leaning on a trash can, right?

Most come here to look at "hot." Some get very disappointed when they see pages full of "not."

I agree that a lot of the stuff posted here just doesn't belong. A completely stock bike, while it may be nice, misses the spirit of the thread. A bike leaning against a pole, car, trash can, etc, misses the spirit of the thread. Dork disks, small chain rings, dirty bikes, cluttered bikes, etc, miss the spirit of the thread.

While I agree that the Leader is a NOT, it still lives up to the spirit of the thread, and aesthetics are personal. Logick may think, and probably does think it's hot. It's on the big ring, has an uncluttered background, it's got the crankring side facing us so I think it belongs.

But at least make an effort, a lot of people post a pic of the bike leaned against some object, don't frame the entire bike, use a camera phone from 1995, etc. People can post all the ugly bikes they want, but at least take some pride in the picture.

Ouch. Like many others have said a simple not would have worked.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, if he is proud of it that is all that matters, you may not like it but your opinion is irrelevant.
I do believe that there are many things that could be adjusted on the bike and it would allow him to ride better but that is for him to figure out.
Everyone must also remember that each individual's budget is different, some cannot afford new Zipps on a Colnago, this is something to remember and respect.
