Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It looks better as a one-off promo bike in need of a crank that doesn't advertise something else.

This bike is pretty flippin' hot!

I do have a very nitpicky complaint about the paint job though...
That gold/copper accent stripe on the seat-stay should wrap around the front of the seat-tube so it would match the accent stripe on the fork that wraps around the head-tube. It's a sweet paint job, but I think it needs this extra little detail.

Pretty cool photo.

The repainted Venge needs a couple quality pics. That bike is hot.

I think its about the same either way. I think the color is what I'm not super crazy about I think (and my monitor could be affecting that). It looks kind of brown/beige - reminds me of those mid 90's Tauruses for some reason. Overall I do like the bike though.

Now that's what I'm talkin about right there! Well done! I hope to create a nice man cave for myself once I move into my new town home in a month.

Most of the folks in the C&V forum are probably tired of seeing my Look, so I'll let you folks in the '41 have at it:

That switch needs a different crank. Clavicula perhaps?

with silver cages, white bar tape, and white housing it would be smoking hot, right now the color coordination is a little much.

I like the old-school tubular wheels though

Seriously, you people are proving me right about how lacking the assessments are growing. Gaucho777, you have been found in violation of the code dealing with chains being located on the outer ring. The first 9 posters somehow missing this gauche mistake is a sad reflection on the state of affairs.

Thank you for posting this fine example of steel. You doubtlessly already know that there is nothing that should be changed on this bike. Including the bar tape which is representative of the style of its time and will never be out of place on this bike. It appears you ride it as well. Hot.

^Thanks. Though it's definitely getting a change of tape this winter. I'm heavily leaning toward Benotto tape. I'll miss the extra padding, but it looks oh so cool. I'm torn between red Benotto (which is what most of the La Vie Claire team used) or a blue/yellow harlequin Benotto job--though that may be bordering on clown bike. Might also put my black Bernard Hinault turbo saddle to use.

My bad on the chain.

It seemed you bypassed the workmanlike look on this or I would have suggested the red Benotto tape. LOOK still uses that La Vie Claire Hinault color scheme to great effect and I have considered buying one of them new.
