Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You should just ride it. After you ride it a while you will know what changes you need to make. Until then, don't worry about what a bunch of screen names on the internet say.

Yes. Don't just make changes based on someone else's aesthetics. Ride it until you develop your own opinions.

Just a little something I threw together with spare parts and one of my older frames(yes, I know the photo could be far better, but it's awful outside currently):

Something is really off-putting about that GIANT logo on the downtube, I can't figure it out.

Yeah, I think it's the way the gray and white meet near the logo...Over time, I've noticed it more and more..I'm thinking of blacking the bike out and putting white logos on it.

If you're having trouble with that, I'm sure you would have trouble getting behind the unfortunately named "Giant Butte"

The Cherubim is very hot. I like the wheel choice a lot. I didn't know they were still being made.

The Parlee is also hot. To my eyes, hotter than the Look.

The standards of this thread not withstanding, that's a pretty good looking bike. The stem, however, is hideous. I've got that exact stem sitting in a box in my garage at home, waiting to be donated to the local bike co-op. I can't imagine what they were thinking.

That said, you should really ride it like that for a while to figure out what size stem you're going to want. Either that or go to the LBS for a fitting. Once you have the fit dialed in, you could either get a decent looking quill stem (I think the cheap Kalloy Unos are OK, but if you want to go fancy Nitto makes some nice ones) or you could get a threadless adapter and get a modern stem.

While you're figuring out fit, an adjustable stem might be worth trying, but it would be even less hot than the monstrosity you have now.

Can you send me the link to the type of stem your talking about that would be compatible with this bike?

Most of these would work.

For those handlebars I think you need one with a 26.0 clamp.

You are leaving out the best option, sheesh! The old threaded headset, quill stem is horrible old technology. Not only is it heavy, but adds a bit of stack height, fork selection sucks, and I've had quill stems have slop inside the steerer. Do yourself a favor and upgrade to a thread less fork, with a proper thread less headset, and stem. It is the best option for the reasons I have stated. Just make sure the fork you buy has he same amount of rake or it will affect the handling of the bike.

No, you'd need different bars for that.

Got some changes done to the S2. Adjusted the bar angle, and hood position. Changed some hardware out in the derailleurs, for red aluminum, as well as chainring bolts, changed the inner ring, and applied new bartape. That's a new set of Vittoria Evo CXes glued on there as well.
