I have the same cages as you. Even on my bike, I don't really like the look, but mine weighed in @ 21 and 22g

Yeah - I'm thinking the same thing; the red looks kind of out of place. Although you can really see in the pic, the romin saddle has red accents. I typically like white tape. I wonder if the LBS will let me swap out the cages?

I don't know why the photo turned out so blurry. I'll take some others with better focus.

Honestly, no idea. I ride a lot but I don't race at all. If anything the 'competitive' riding is just making sure I don't get dropped by the peloton on the weekends.

UCI says they need to approve wheels with a depth over 25mm. They test them to destruction and make sure bits don't explode out towards other racers. No name deep Chinese wheels probably aren't on the approved list.

Kinda makes you wonder...was there a problem with exploding wheels at one point?

Actually Mavic did have problems with their R-Sys wheel system with the hollow carbon spokes. There's a infamous crash photo sequence from a race here in Austin showing a racer getting dumped after his wheel came apart. Not sure if that's what prompted the rule or not although I doubt it - that race wasn't UCI sanctioned. Although maybe there were malfunctions in a UCI sanctioned race somewhere.

Here is mine, I just finished building it. Most of the parts are used due to being on a budget. Its not as nice as a lot of the bikes I just got done drooling over, but she looks good to me. Its a Blue RC8 frame, Ultegra group, and Rolf wheels.

pic gets bigger if you click it

Im no one to ask really. I built it as my first road bike and have only ridden it once, which was today. Its a world of difference from my mountain bike background. I guess I will see after I start putting on the mileage.

I'm sure a better pic will do this S2 justice. And if you decide on red bar tape, can't go wrong with Fizik's Microtex gloss red. It matches the Cervelo red perfectly; I had it on my previous S2 and S5.

Also did I read this wrong or are UCI regulations really being discussed in this thread?

I know, I know. I'm waiting until I can go pick up some of this:

I took it out for my normal 40mi commute and hot damn I forgot how amazing this bike is after not riding it for 4+ months. Also, the Zipp Vuka Sprints are, by far, the BEST bars I have ever put my hands on. They feel way solid, have the perfect drop (short and shallow) and the tops are supremely comfy (and conveniently flat enough to rest an espresso on /europro). Thanks for the inspiration, SA. You were 110% right.

That bartape looks better. I had some Cinelli tape once, and it didn't last so long. Glad you like the Vukas as much as I do. I pretty much feel the same way. I feel like I should quote that last sentence in my signature as a show of 41 street cred. haha.

Repost, but looking for opinions
Looking into trying the Romin Evo saddle and not sure if I should stay with this color scheme or get black saddle, black stem, black tape?

because it has that nice gloss black at the head, I think a zipp Vukas sprint bar set with gloss bar tape would look pretty slick.
Edited:
I think this looks way gooder...
(compliments of soloist Assassin's parts)
