Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks, but not so fast. It's not done yet. I like the graphic removal result on the RD so much, I think I may have to do that to the shift levers too. Either that or it's getting 2012 Red shifters. I also think I may have to get the Beyond Black version of the stem, and move this one over to my cross bike. Probably going to get the TriRig brake for the front as well. Either that or the Scapula F aero fork.

Kahoon, wait just one minute! How is your bike over 3lbs heavier than mine? Are your 404s clinchers or something? I went back to look at it, and it isn't even Di2. Where did all those grams come from?

I wanna lay on top of yer bike outta respect for how hot it is! I may need to invest in Zipps! ....which is really an investment in oneself, right?

I am still on the fence about it. That fork would be pretty awesome. It would potentially get the bike down to 12.5lbs or so. It's a toss up though. The TriRig brake would be more aero, but weigh more. Then I've even thought about the hydro Red shifters when they come out, and getting the Magura hydro brakes. A friend of mine is sending me 4 TriRig brakes, and I have to resend them to him in Canada. I might have to try one out first. If they work as good as they are supposed to, I'll probably end up ordering one for the front. If I can shave some grams somewhere else and keep it sub 13lbs with the TriRig brake. That will most likely be what I do. As awesome as the Scapula F is. It has a pretty hefty price tag.

If you are a pretty girl you can lay on my bike. Otherwise that's kinda weird. As for the Zipps, whatever you have to tell yourself I suppose. Believe it or not. I got mine with very low miles used for just over a grand off of a trigeek. Gotta love those guys. I wish I would of gotten an 808 rear, and I might one day, but for the price I can't complain.

my first humble submission: 2012 Scott Foil 40 - i am not sure it is hot until I upgrade the wheels from the fulcrum racing t's (or find a white garage door!), but i think it's getting warm!

regardless, I am loving the ride!

The Foil is hot as-is, though I think the crankset brings it down a touch. Very nice overall.

This. I don't usually like white bikes, but that is nice indeed.

I like the different colored cages. It works well with that bike. Good to see you plan to address the crankset issue, and thanks for the compliment on my S2.

Alas, a pretty girl I am not... It was an obscure comedic reference. That's ridiculous about the Zipps! I'm keeping my eyes peeled for some 303s/404s...or Carbones (clincher). Curiously, what would be the reason for an 808 on a road bike? I wouldn't change a thing on that S2!

I've only ridden it a few times since the upgrade sadly. Been recovering from a concussion, and it sucks. Thanks for the compliment. It does seem to shift quicker, and more precise. It also appears that dropping the chain is impossible now. I like the new FD a lot so far.

I would go deeper than 303s for sure. 404s at the bare minimum. You have an S5, so clearly you appreciate aero advantage. 808s are the most aero, but at a weight penalty over the 404. I think the 404/808 combo is the best of both worlds. More aero than straight 404, and still going to handle the crosswinds just as good with the 404 on the front. Plus I think it looks even more awesome with the deeper wheel on the back. Here is colorchange's S5 on 808's. It is my favorite S5 to date. It's a 54cm so it looks a bit better than your 56cm. It looks great with the straight 808s, but 404/808 would be lighter, better in crosswinds, and more practical.

I REALLY love the frame! I personally dont like the mix bottle cages, but thats just my opinion. I still give it a Hot. excited to see how a wheel upgrade will change the overall appearance. what do you think of the bike?

bianchi10 - only went on 3 rides (112 miles) so far on the foil, including tonight's local worlds - the foil was the stiffer frame i test rode, and really transfers the power when climbing...every effort is rewarded...it does not "feel" really aero - the geometry/fit is quite aggressive (mine is a 58cm frame) and the ride is borderline harsh stiff - so just what i was looking for!!! it's a racer - only one problem though, the seatpost is slipping (apparently a problem w/ the foils) and actually stripped some the finish on the back of the seatpost...gotta call the LBS tomorrow (bummer, 'cause i'm really excited about this bike)

I don't understand why companies keep trying these "innovative" ideas for seat post clamping. BMC had tons of problems, the foils have problems, etc. They should all just use a clamp and call it a day

they are clinchers. but that shouldn't equate to 3 pounds, i agree! i hummed and hawed about getting tubulars, and decided against. i ride my bike pretty far on a regular basis, and don't want the hassle. i can repair a clincher in just over 3min.

btw, that weight included everything. pedals, cages, all sensors, computer mount, but no computer.

Yeah, I have my Spinergy Clinchers for training, which are .9lbs heavier than my 404's which some of that is due to heavier skewers, and a heavier Force cassette. I mostly only use the 404s for racing. I did puncture the new rear tire with only 100miles on it. It has 6g of Stan's sealant in it, and has been holding up great since.

My weight includes everything too. My Garmin broke, and I am being reluctant to pay them $90 to fix it. Second Garmin computer I've owned that quit on me so I haven't rode with a computer on my S2 all year. Since it is pretty much my race only bike I don't really need it. I use my iPhone with a Wahoo fitness ANT+ bike mount on my training bike with a Garmin cadence sensor.

The sensor, and computer mount don't equate to much though. The thing is almost every single part is a little heavier on your bike. I don't know what bars you have, but your stem is probably a few grams lighter. The S5 seatpost alone weighs 220g. My post with saddle is 181g. Add in your saddle weight, and difference in cranks and that's probably a pound right there. If the clinchers are close to my Spinergys that's another pound, and after that the difference in the remaining components in addition to the computer stuff could account for the other pound. Brakes are probably 1/4lb or so. So I guess it makes sense now that I think about it.
