Love the frame. hate the asthetics of the smp saddles and those bars are hard to look at.

I'm not sure what it is about the lighting in the photo, but the grey bar tape looks different. It almost looks brown. In person, the bar tape actually matches the frame. As for the saddle, you don't see it when the bike is being ridden! :p
It's the only comfy saddle I've been able to find that works well for me on long rides like a century.

I'll play with my first post. Got it about 3 years ago as my first entry-level roadie. Been racing it for the past 4 months now.

Other than the red tires, I REALLY like this bike for some reason. Though SRAM Rival makes more sense due to the wheels :thumb:

Please, PLEASE, tell me that you destroy in the TTs (or are at least competitive). If not, this bike should be confiscated. If I were riding it the crowds would weep at the injustice I was doing to such a machine.

That is a sick bike!!

EDIT - You need black chainrings...

Thanks, I just bought it to ride down the MUP.

As for the chainrings, they aren't black but I did just order one of these for it.

Sad note - I'm selling the bike that started this thread (I already have a buyer lined up so I'm not advertising). Oh well, maybe I can post whatever I replace it with down the line here, although I have to admit the bar has been set higher than my wallet will probably allow. ;)

You're fast for a MUP rider. Good luck this weekend.

Since it was rated Hot on this thread you should get double FMV.

LowCel, that bike is hot AND awesome. I start salivating every time I see one of those in person, which has been twice so far. Enjoy it wherever you ride or race it. BTW, I sometimes train on my TT bike on a MUP during low usage times.

ravenmore, that is sad and I am glad to see that you were able to sell it so quickly. Hope you're able to replace it sooner than later.

Humor... sometimes lost on the web. The poster's reputation preceeds this post...

I figured.

Nice cranks. They will look great, and have the added benefit of a cost befitting the bike, and actually being good. I'd love to see a shot of that thing in action. Think it can be captured with a regular camera, or will someone need one of those front-row olympics lensed take 2000 shots of humming bird cameras?

Yeah, but you probably do it fast... I have been known to take slow spins on my TT bike, not just in races.

Some minor updates. I think I am finally done. Changed out the chainrings, went to a 25mm rear tire, new Lightning cranks, dremeled on the RD a bit.

SA, I hate you and yet want to love you so much at the same time. That bike is simply outstanding!!! I love it more everytime I see it.

IthaDan 07-27-12 09:10 PM

What, no weight?

Thanks, the bike is really a joy to ride. Took some KOMs on Strava with it tonight trying out the new rings.

I have not weighed it since all the changes. It should be right at about 13lbs. I was at 12.98 previously, but the new tire added +24g of increased mass on the rear wheel. I just weighed it now. for you. The new Lightning crank added +3g. The chainrings were -5g. Finally something good. I am now contemplating a S-Works carbon spider to reduce more weight. I'm going to have to do some research on spider weights. I'd really like to drop another 20g or so. I could always peel the wheel stickers for -16g again....

thirdgenbird 07-27-12 09:48 PM

You wont ever be done :)

I vote you remove the decals.

IthaDan 07-27-12 10:01 PM

I bet if you filed the threading off of your presta valves, you'd save at least 5g.

Hadn't thought about how marginal the weight delta would be. Thanks for weighing it. For me. It's damn pretty.

Mine don't have threading. I have the complete replacement Vittoria valves.

They were lighter too compared to my old Zipp extenders. Plus they work like a regular valve too. I like the looks of it too. That first pic turned out damn good if I do say so myself. I can't believe the 2mm wider tire added that much weight. Maybe new Red shifters, and or new Red Cassette, or possibly the new KCNC Ti Cassette. Also the 25mm rear tire is the bees knees. It is not an option to revert back to 23mm. It makes the rigid carbon saddle a lot more comfortable. It fits so close to the frame now. I like it a lot.

Remind me to weigh it. I have a compact S-works carbon spider (still in bag) - just waiting on Praxis to release their chainrings I'm waiting for!

Soloist Assassin 07-27-12 10:21 PM

Now I think about the spider, and I think, hmm reduce a few grams with an S-Works spider, or gain a bunch with a Power 2 Max spider....

Awe that is awesome. Now I need to get the spider tool so I can take the spider off my old crank and weigh it.
