Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

the chainstay's aren't actually long at all.... its actually a properly geometry-ied road frame. yup 32 spokes....

its actually something that I build for the wife... if you look at frame (and the ratio of the size of the chain rings to the frame itself) you might notice that things look odd... its because its a bike based on 26" wheels.

The wife is 5'4" and this is a 48cm frame with 26" wheels.

Look at the 2nd pic (front 3/4 view from above) and you can see a black stick/pole resting on one of the openings in the floor drain grate.

it was really hard keeping the stick still from under the drain grate, but I held on tightly to the stick while my wife took the pictures.

Really kind of a cross between a road bike and a hybrid.

https://sheldonbrown.com/bridgestone/index.html

And by modern standards that geometry is not a typical road frame.

The chainstays at 42 mm are 1.5cm longer than your RB-1 for example. And the trail of 17mm is on the longish side. Definitely designed to be more a stable cruiser than a racing bike.

Very red. The yellow is more of a goldenrod, I have the correct colored deda tape on the way. I'd love to lose the schwinn made boat anchor of a fork and get a carbon fork on there, but the graphics are too good. I even have the fork in wait, anyone know a good painter that can match decals and color?

In this album you can see its evolution during the time I've had it. It came with that ugly stem and STIs. By happenstance I ran into Rob Stowe via a craigslist sale for a raleigh 3speed and had him tell me about it. It was a little odd to meet the builder of one of my bikes, but he seemed pretty plussed to see one in the wild again, more than 20 years after he'd sent it off.

An unending work of art. If it's really red, you can probably do a good job of rattlecanning the carbon fork and print up your own decals. There's a lot of help for this kind of thing on C&V.

Welcome to BF....since you're new, the folks here will give you a grace period. Bike could be hot, but a few "rules" for this thread: pic on drive side, chain on big ring, prefer in front of garage, but if you don't have one, a plain solid background, and a straight and level side shot. But I do like the murdered out look.

Yeah, it was really odd to meet Rob Stowe. I knew he was from the area, but I didn't know he was STILL IN the area. Guess he still has a shops worth of tools, but hasn't gotten the bug just yet to return to making frames.

The tricolor is still on it. It took me FOREVER to find the 6401, 8speed downtubes, the 7 speed ones are everywhere, but by the time the 8 speed came around nearly every bike was STII actually finished the group off- picked up the stem, post and both kinds of pedals- clips and clipless. I have yet to get the stem on, but that'll happen this weekend when the goldenrod deda tape I've ordered shows up. I decided to convert this to downtubes, because having two bikes will full tricolor STIs seemed a little redundant. It took me FOREVER to find the 6401, 8speed downtubes, the 7 speed ones are everywhere, but by the time the 8 speed came around nearly every bike was STI.

Also have this bike with more or less full tricolor:

They're buddies!

I just realized you might be inquiring about picking up a tricolor group- like an idiot, I bid on two complete STI groups (without wheels though) late night one ebay the other night. Turns out I won them both, so I'm a little flush with tricolor stuff right now. Feel free to PM me if I'm reading you right.
