Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hot doesn't come to mind, if that's what it takes to get the better half to sign off on spending thousands of dollars on a toy, then by all means. I'd do the same.

WOW! Man, I know my bike has some flash, but I did not expect it to solicit such strong negative reactions. I find it hard to believe you all have such conservative tastes.

For my part it must be the strong Latin influences of the Southwest. Most fellow bikers here have expressed admiration for the Bella Donna's appearance.

Now stop talking about buildings and high flying swimming pool and get back to hot bikes.... even if mine does not qualify.
Its fine except for the bright yellow bars and red hoods that don't really match.

Not here to partake in judging what everyone's taste is but are you Filipino (or partly)?

Only Filipinos will have their Christmas trees put up in October and put away in early March.

Bros,

I'm looking for some styling advice.
My new steel frame is below. Metallic Blue --> Gray fade.
I'm building it with SRAM Force, 3T Pro (white stripe) fork/bars/post/stem, and de-stickered Fulcrum Racing Zero wheels.
The goal was all-black components.

The only aesthetic issue is headset/BB color. I'm obsessing about it, but this is the thread for it.

The BB is italian threaded - SRAM's only italian BB is silver.
Chris King's Silver doesn't match SRAM's silver.
Chris King's Black headset wouldn't match the BB.
Chris King's Blue doesn't match the blue of the frame, but it might look good.
I was thinking about going with one of their Pink headsets, since two women in my life recently dealt with breast cancer, but i don't know.

Any opinions?

Actually, the yellow bar tape is what ruins it for me. Doesn't match anything else on the bike? If you used black bar tape then you would have just a few red accents and it would look far better. This coming from a guy that hates black on black on black bikes. To me, they're just boring. But that yellow is ... ick. Maybe it's better in person?

CK Pewter actually comes across as pretty purple in real life, unfortunately.
Also CK doesn't make Italian-thread BBs.

Thank you.

i would post a picture with the "old" black wheels but photobucket is down. The new silver wheels (tubular) are not laced up yet. I've been putting it off because I had a stock of clincher tires to go through.

edit: photobucket is back up. Here she is with the wheel and saddle that are not on the other bike.

Hot frame.

If you're stuck with a silver bb don't let it dictate your other choices because, well... it's a bb. Not exactly very visible.

I thought about it a bit more.

I think i'll go with a black headset, and maybe in the future I upgrade the group to Campy and go black for everything.

I have a frame with a similar color scheme, and this is the route I went (you may have seen this already from the previous pages of this thread):

I think silver headset / seatpost / stem, with either a silver or black crankset, would work well.

i like your setup. but my rear triangle is dark gray, brakes are dark gray, crankset is dark gray, hubs are black, etc. I think a darker color scheme fits better.

How about a Deda Zero100 seatpost and stem in "dark metal polish" then, with a pewter CK headset?

ah yea, i get you, but:

i already have the stem and bars - 3T Pro. so i thought I could get a nice look going with all 3T pro (black with white stripe) components.

also, again, CK Pewter = purple

Sorry, I forgot about that part. I would go with a black headset and whatever you can get for a bb. It won't really manner. My record bb cups are greenish and don't match a thing but it doesn't bother me.

I know you've already decided, but I like the idea of pink. The idea behind it (breast cancer support) is a great reason. That, and I just like the colour pink.

There is, Plus all infinity type of pools must have some sort of ledge for the water to spill into. In this case, if you accidentally were stupid and somehow fell over, you would hit the ledge then fall unto the deck below.
