Oh come on man, first you insult his bike now his choice of how to ride?
Personally, I think everybody should race. It's what these bikes are made for. It's when you truly appreciate what they can do, but I understand why people don't race.
I didn't race for like 20 years of road riding and finally decided to. It was then I realized that the whole time I'd been telling myself something similar to bianchi10 about not wanting to crash was just B.S. that I made up to protect my ego from having to compete.

Aww cmon folks, let's not get the thread locked up. Everyone just put their big boy kits on and get back to admiring/picking apart pictures of nice bikes.

I choose not to race because I dont want to put myself in a situation where the chances of a crash increase considerably. I cant afford to fix my bike for a while if that happens. Just because I had one really great PR doesn't mean I should automatically start racing. I entered into a couple races 2 seasons ago. didnt go well for me for one and I just didn't like it. probably because it didn't go well. I have never even hooked my garmin up to my computer. Other than using the usb to charge it, I couldn't tell you how to upload the info or what it even looks like.
I've had more than my share of wrecks(PM me if you want to really know), and I will not race a mass start event ever again, but TTs are great.

I would expect this bickering on a Friday or Saturday night, but Sunday night?
Let's all simmer down please.

The reason I don't do organized rides or races (besides the fact that I'm slow as molasses) is that they cost money.
Bianchi's bike funds are only from what of his old bike stuff he can sell. Doesn't make sense to spend the scarce money on a one-time thing that may or may not turn out well.

The part that you're not factoring in is the cost.

I didn't know he was unable to spend $40 to enter a race. I'm pretty thrifty too.
