Quite alright. It would be a boring place if we all liked the same things. :^) I don't personally find the graphics to be cheesy, but to each his own. FWIW, I don't like the Jet-themed Colnago either. It's not just that its theme is unrelated to bicycles. I don't see what it has to do with Italy. Commemorating a paisano like Da Vinci, I get; jets, not so much.
Well, if you dislike this one, you'll probably hate one of my all-time faves (apologies if I've posted this before). It's my 2005 Colnago BrerArt, which I upgraded a year or two ago with an 11-speed Campy Super Record gruppo. It's even more of a love it or hate it kind of bike than the Da Vinci.

Where you see this funny suit, I see this..

I understand your point. I give my judgement based on what I like. What I like happens to fit most of the "rules of thumb". I prefer to see bars positioned in a particular way that I feel not only look best but are beneficial. I have in past given judgement on the "rules of thumb", but anymore try to make it very clear why I PERSONALLY like or dislike a bike. They are my opinions, which is not meant to sound like the final verdict but I think it comes across that way at times. At the end of the day, my judgement should be fairly predictable to everyone since what I find to be hot, usually lines up with most of the "rules". I completely understand that people aren't going to set their bike up a certain way just for this thread and then readjust yob their liking in order to make it ridable. To me, that is the point of this thread, post a picture of your bike and its current set up. If its hot than it is hot. On the other hand if you have a $15,000 bike and have your stem at the top of the stack, mismatched tires, ugly cages, bars rotated up, saddle height lower than bars etc....they can't expect to post a picture and expect to get a hot vote out of me (and most likely a majority of everyone here) just because it is a nice bike. If you have a bike like that and and need it set that way, then don't post it in a thread that is meant to be highly judgemental with how a bike appears.

I don't see much of a resemblance (stripes vs. dabs of paint). Actually, I had one of Cappiello's posters in mind when I bought it.

Maybe it's the angle at which the photos were taken, but I can tell you from a useability standpoint, there's nothing wrong with how either one of them is set up. I was carefully fitted for the speckled Colnago before I ever bought it. I used those measurements in deciding to buy the LdV. Both bikes are riders. I didn't put them together with bike porn in mind. I'm not sure what to say about the tires. They're not mismatched. The Elite cages on the Brera Art do look dated. But they are 7 years old. The Arundel Mandible cages on the Da Vinci are new and top-of-the-line. You're entitled to your opinion, of course. But I will say that both are set up appropriately for me.
In other words...if you don't have a slammed stem, lots of saddle to bar drop, properly rotated bars...don't bother posting...or you'll be struck down.

A nice example of reasonably priced aftermarket wheels, colour coordinated saddle/tape/highlights and an agressive yet perfectly reasonable fit making a properly staged alloy bike Smokin' Hot.

Its actually pretty simple to have a basic "Hot" bike...regardless of how much the bike may cost.
Three basic criteria:
1. slammed stem
2. adequate saddle to bar drop
3. nice set of wheels (not as important)
Go by those three criteria...chances are...you'll have a hot bike.
Realistically...not everybody can ride a bike set up like that...and don't think they should be cast out of Valhalla for that.

It can be difficult to make a large frame look right as the wheels look small. Here is mine.

Liking the Moots, even though the frame looks relatively huge. A decent picture hitting all the "staging rules" should garner you a "hot" at some point...

everything staging rules-wise has been discussed to death in this thread previously...
