If the stem/stack height doesn't get most people, the tires probably will
I think you do get points for proper staging though. |

I like it, but there are too many things that don't match - saddle / tape / wheels / frame... If it were only a couple of things that would be OK.

Change the tire to Gum walls if you want something other than black.

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3811/9...49a03f9f_c.jpg I'm with GC3 here. I dont know why I like it, but there is something about it. Must be those electric blue tires that draw you in like a fly in the midnight darkness to a bug zapper! |
I want the bar tape to be the same color as the wheels. It looks urban assault-ish, but electrified.
|
Red crank with Di2 did anyone pick up on that?
|
I did noticed the mix and match of SRAM and Shimano. I too like the bike and this that the blue tires are what is attractive. The red micro splash bar tape screams 1990 to me and should go.
|
I do love that Bahula wasn't skeered to try something crazy, um, but sadly, it doesn't work. How about black saddle, black bar tape with red stitching or Cinelli Confetti tape or something WAY more understated. (It DOES scream 1990, FoxFarm is right) But... but... It's a good looking frame!
I don't know what to do with those blue tires. Wowsers. How about white sidewalls? I don't know, that seems more difficult to keep clean than white bartape. Ah, well, thanks for posting it! |
Thanks for the comments and feedback everyone- interesting bike, interesting comments
Fiery- I agree that a black romin would fit much better at this point. The white one was the first thing I got when the bike was stock and had white tires, tape and saddle. At this point, $100+ for the sake of aesthetics falls on the, "eh, maybe next season..." list. coppercook62- the bike has a BB30 bb and I didn't want to use an adapter, thus the red stuff. It also has the corresponding red cassette (which is hands-down one of the coolest things I've seen in recent memory from a manufacturing standpoint) and everything works extremely nicely together. |

I need to adjust the seat and bars a little bit. I just picked it up. its a excellent condition 2003 trek 5200 ocvl - all ultegra. came with a selle italia c2 saddle. the bike has 750 miles on it. |

Yeah I'm gonna have to agree the Trek is a big 'ol pile of NOT. I hate that spoke pattern on the wheels, and the saddle is pretty fugly, too. Looks like an '80's BMX saddle just about. :p
