"Terrible" may be being kind in this instance ...

Posting for a friend that just finished up his Allez build. The colors may be a bit much for some people...but I think its a nice departure from the sea of black bikes. If it was me...I'd do the cables in plain black.

It's so OTT it kinda works. I'm curious as to the thinking behind putting such high zoot parts on an Allez frame. Not that there's anything wrong with an Allez.

WhyFi 09-27-13 01:34 PM

Hot and the colored cables work well, I think.

Interesting that we have two bikes with the same color scheme posted back to back. As to this one, to me, it's just trying too hard. A 6 degree upward stem would look better with that sloping top tube. It's a good looking bike, don't get me wrong but it doesn't have the 'just enough' that the Ritte has, for instance. Madfibers will convince most on here that it's hot, and they are good looking wheels and yes, this bike would turn my head, but too much, imo.

You'd be surprised at the new frame. Another shop guy has his built up at 14.5lbs. With the Spesh carbon cranks and ZIPP 202. This is going to be on par (or dare I say...above) with the CAAD10.

I didn't get a chance to weigh this bike...but estimating at around mid to high 15lbs. The cockpit parts are all aluminum. These new Madfiber clinchers are mad light. They feel just about...if not lighter than my 404 tubulars.

This new Allez frame is super nice. You can build up this 880 msrp frame to be lighter than most companies mid range carbon frames...including Spesh's own. Cannondale has to step up their game with the CAAD11.

I gave him some flack about the stem. He could run a -6 and a 5mm top cap...but he didn't want to cut the steerer any shorter.

True enough, and it'd be a fantastic race bike. I know a lot of people choose an alu frame because it's cheaper to replace after a wreck, but I'm not sure how much water that argument holds if your wheels cost that much. :)

SpeshulEd 09-27-13 01:51 PM

I really like those allez frames, I dig the colors. I think bmcphx's needs more bling and Robots needs less bling. I really wish those mad fiber wheels had the black decals rather than the white.

I wouldn't kick either out of bed, but I'd probably keep the Daily Show on during the act.

This. Take the decals off the wheels and it might be hot. I'd find the other Allez hotter if it was in a better photo.

Similarly, the Fuji on the previous page has the makings of a hottie if I could see it properly.

I see the Madfibers as being Sunday group ride wheels. He's got another set of alu Novatec wheels for the "risky" crits. :D

Better detail pics.

um wrong thread methinks.

VA_Esquire 09-27-13 03:11 PM

Why does the Allez look photoshopped.......? Either way, it is a bit gaudy and thrown together.

Not.

Its all in the staging bro.
ie: wrong gear, mismatch bottles,etc.

I'd go with black cables to make them more stealth.

I like how its come together for you.
You mentioned this as being your 2nd bike so I'll give you a break.
I keep my Allez modest too.

thanks speshuled, this is a second (beater) bike for me to give my Madone a break every now and then and double as a race bike, so I will probably keep it modest. It's 17.02# with those 1750g wheels, Ultegra, and plastic bottle cages.

Not shopped...it was thrown together...kind of.

All the parts came off his CAAD10.

Thats not bad at all. I love madfiber wheels, but I think yours looks more appropriate than the decked out one. You did very well, especially for a beater.

One of these days I'm driving downtown and riding my bike all day around the city in hopes of spotting one of your rides in action.
