Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks robbyville and gc3. The saddle is a Specialized Romin Evo. A bit porky but comfortable. Someday I may replace it with the carbon rail version.

It's been the go-to bike for the last couple of months now. Only changes this year for both bikes will be the new OT cranksets I bought from Ribble over the holidays.

[QUOTE=save10;16505968]Thanks peeps for the feed back on my Allez from a few days back

some final notes

1) the background is the concrete block house of a roadway that makes a flyover by where i live. makes for a nice background
2) shot with my trusty old Nikon D40X with a Nikon 50mm AF-s 1.8. I can't say enough about this lens. Its cheap ($200), fast, light and robust. often times i don't need a tripod in low light because of to 1.8. I've gotten rid of all my other Nikon lenses and i just use this now. if you shoot nikon you need this lens

Great background. Some bikes "deserve" better then a garage door and yours certainly fits the bill. I'm a "prime lens" shooter myself. My 85 1.8 or 1.2 are what I use most for bike shots. Great bokeh if wanted/needed and the razor sharpness/clarity of a prime lens can't be beat. I'm a Canon guy but props to your Nikon shots! I'd love to see that shot at 5.6/6.3 with a bit of an angle from the front with focus point at mid-downtube with that background. That would be a strong look for that bike. Nice job...again.

My saddle tilt? My saddle is actually completely level, same for my handlebars.

I like this bike. It looks like such a nice bike, but the bottle cages are just awful. If you put some inexpensive plastic or even carbon cages on there that looked good (and hold a bottle well) the bike would look a ton better! As it is, it's warm...

And what is wrong with that? It fits me great and is the most comfortable saddle I've used so far. Sorry but Fizik saddles don't work for me.

I hate specialized, but they make the best saddles. I'll have a Toupe on my Cannondale until the day they stop making them.

I've believe gluten has also been responsible for silly lawsuits against small business owners.

Gluten v Johnson was a brutal case and Mr Johnson will likely never recover financially.

I've thought of doing that, but I like aluminum cages too well. Sometimes I like to bring very thin bottles with me for the rest periods in rides and it's nice being able to change the size of the cage. Yes, I'm aware that this being aluminum, it could eventually break them. However, that's something I'm willing to risk. Is there a cage you'd suggest?

Nah, I wasn't hating on Spesh, I just was in horror that you put a different bike brand on your BMC. You MIXED bicycle manufacturers?! Oh, the horror! (Yes, I was joking) I have several friends that would put a Selle or a Fizik or any saddle manufacturer on their bike, but never another bike brand…

Interesting suggestion. They are inexpensive so it wouldn't really matter much if they broke. They are just ugly that's all. I've heard lots of people on here that like the Elite cages. You can find them most anywhere. My Felt has matching carbon cages that came on it and look ok. Also, my LBS here has several that look good as I'm sure yours does as well. Unless you are a weight weenie, you don't need carbon, they have multiple plastic ones that look just fine. The aluminum ones just look big and clunky, especially on a sleek looking bike.
