Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Show bikes are supposed to be aesthetically pleasing. They are "show" bikes after all.

Pretty much sits in a showroom.

Axle protector is the best part. Don't have to find one when boxing up the bike when flying with it.

Nice ninja edit. Other aspects of HorN aside. I don't know how people ride with the hoods angled down like that. The few bikes I've test ridden set up that way caused major wrist discomfort when ridden in an aggressive position on the hoods. Flat hoods are a must for me.

Hah, I missed that. I did notice the rear brake cable outer casing seems a little short though.

Finished my new training beater build. Still waiting on new wheels/cassette but it won't change much visually. Fire away...

Haha...you caught that!

I need to my hoods to be slightly tilted up from level.

Some of the HoN "requirements" would render a bike a torture device.

Hellava "beater build"! Both Hot. Not usually a fan of the gulf Caad10, but that looks proper!

I'm not sure if you understand what "beater" means.

Evo - Chop the very last bit of steer tube. Change bottle cages. Then it'll be hot.

CAAD 10 - Same as above. Change HED decals to newer versions. And your bar setup looks janky. Then it'll be hot.

Mini-rocket launcher, for people who don't wave.

It's a FlyXii FR-315 frame in 54cm size. I have about 2000 miles on it. It feels very stiff has no bb flex (unlike cheap alum frames) and is responsive to pedal power. If I ride with a slightly jerky pedal stroke I in turn get jerked around in the saddle. As for the frame geometry the wheelbase is 99cm and there isn't much rake on the fork - so you can guess how it handles. I'm glad there's no toe overlap - front wheels barely clear my shoe when turning. Frame and fork have held up well against potholes, curb hopping, sidewalk riding, and stair runs.

A note: the seatpost clamp doesn't do a good job of clamping the seatpost... remedy: I stuck two squares of adhesive invisibleshield-like clear plastic (the stuff they use for transparent car bras) on the two large faces on left and right of the seatpost and it has stayed put for 2000 miles.

Yes the goal of the gold cable housing is to disrupt the otherwise monotonous stealth bomber look. Glad you like it

I like that you chose to disrupt the whole stealth look with the cable housing. Very aggressive, mean looking bike. That's what a man's bike should look like. Not something you should change or could do anything about since the Rival crank is nice. Would have been nicer if the chainrings were more silver to match your rear derailleur. I like silver components

Still trying get the setup dialed. Sparkly new chain = not hot. Might look better with black tape and saddle, but I don't think it's worth another 300 hots

So here is my Evo. Sorry for the lame basement pic. Still working out the fit, but pretty much there. Will cut the steerer eventually though somewhat worried about doing that. I'm sure the hot or not-zis will point out the unslammed stem (and lack of deep wheels) but in my defense I actually ride the bike and slammed isn't something I can manage comfortably and the 63cm frame is just too big. Oh, the ravages of age... And yes my saddle is level - actually 2 degrees down.

Mostly stock but had to replace the short seat post so did the stem too to match. Any suggestions?

^Nice, not a HOT, but still hot. Might look a hair better with black cable housing. I would suggest cutting the extra bit of steerer on top and just leaving a 5mm spacer on top

Thanks! It's definitely a love it or hate it color. Fortunately I've been a fan of the race cars/livery before getting into cycling so just had to have it.

Thanks. The "beater" is a personal reference. I'm well aware of what a beater is; my daily POS car is a beater.
I've thought about the HED decals, but decided to leave them until they start peeling. Please elaborate on the "janky" bar setup?
