Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks for the comments, suggestions and the criticisms, much appreciated.
the darker color on the frame is actually a very deep blue. looks black from afar.

these are some other shots from the same day.

Just link the picture directly, it's way easier than futzing with the forum software

Kurt, am I to understand the guy decaled his name on the bike? Although it's gorgeous here I hope that's not the case, otherwise that could start a very scary and ugly trend among people with more ego than sense of taste.

I'm most interested in the wheels/tires. I love that black-tan-black look and was looking for them on a recent project. You have the info on them?

Very nice bike indeed, but not hot at all. My opinion only.

I've been watching the other post in which you go through this build.

I'm not too crazy about the seatpost, but the ride looks great!

What happened to the other saddle with the flame pattern?

Oh, it's still around...I've been riding the ASPide for dunno how many years now.
I'm hoping the Specialized BG could help out some lower back/hip issues...Haven't ried it out yest....still winterwonderland

As for the seatpost....the Masterpiece does in fact look better....I was thinking of getting an gold anodized something.
Why use something discreet.........It already goes against every rule of the official bike aesthetic police

The colnago has a specialized toupe, which after a few rides, i'm a bit disappointed with. But I'm gonna give it a few months before I bash the saddle (literally and figuratively).
It's a 143mm width and I'm used to riding the Selle on the Merlin which has a width of 135mm. As expected my inner thighs feel a bit more abraded after a 30 miler on the Spesh.
Good luck with the build, looks great so far.

im not sure it looks WAY out of place, its a pretty crank, and it was tied in with the seatpost and stem. while i would have used a silver seatpost, stem, and alloy cranks, i give him credit for pushing the limits. the frame, wheelset, fork and pump scream vintage european, while the component group and cranks display nearly the pinnacle of refinement. i never thought a lugged italian frame would look right with a modern (shimano none the less) drivetrain, but wil-mart has accomplished it (in an odd sort of way)

Yep - he's a framebuilder, and a darn good one too:

The complete rundown on the componentry is in his eBay ad from a month or two ago:

WR bike is a tough one....hottish..?...

Impressive amount of bar drop, pretty, but what's with all that space between the front wheel and the downtube??? Front suspension?

It's the frame size (XL).

The M doesn't have that gap (not my bike):
