Reminds me of my kindergarten class photo. All the other classes from six down had already come and gone, so maybe a hundred kids had walked on it. Kind of loses its effect when it's ripped.

It's a rather indifferent looking bike if you ask me, but I guess if you love it, then you'd give it the studio treatment regardless.

New frame, stem, bars and cables (Cordz). The rest were moved from the MASI. I will change out that front tire in a bit, but its a nice beautiful silk so that will take me some working up to do.

She will weigh in just under 14lbs with the cages, pedals. As pictured she does not have the rear wire, junction box and battery and those weigh under 3oz. I can cut another 2oz with some bolt swapping and 1oz if we slam the stem. She has only been ridden around the block so far.http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=428774

Why does it look like a messenger bike? Must be the wheels. :)

Sometimes you have to give up a bit of looks and performance if you want the very best.

Two gumwall tires, black stem cap and black cages, I'm in for a

I generally steer away from making negative comments but that is just about the ugliest bike I have ever seen. I know it's supposed to be all aero and all with the fat x-sections, but it just looks like a big bloat, like its inflated with a compressor.

I was thinking the rims, not the tires, make it a messenger bike. Mercury = messenger of the gods - get it?
But seriously, the mis-matched tires do add to a messenger's bike look.

Can you understand that it defeats the point of the thread to suggest, "well, just imagine it with a better looking ________" or "a more appropriate ________"?

Silvercivic27 01-18-15 09:42 AM

No money for tires. Spent it all on the Enve aero road bar and the Extralite stem.

Lazyass 01-18-15 10:13 AM

Let's just put it out there now. No flat black carbon bike is hot.

You know why it was purchased. I thought it looked good too. The stem is about the nicest piece of machine I have seen. Holding it, suddenly carbon feels so heavy.

This is my new Lynskey R230. Got a super deal on the frame / fork / seatpost. Built it up with the campy / sram parts and wheels off another carbon craigslist bike that was too big.

I have this and a Roubaix. The Roubaix looks like every other one out there, so no point in asking if it's hot or not. It's not.

No, some people are hating on the presentation with mismatched tires, others dislike it because they're not fans of the Spec Squatting Dog, and still others dislike the matte finish/colorway. Above all, though, you need to keep in mind that this is a thread entirely devoted to aesthetics and posting is literally an invitation to judge. As such, higher standards are expected.

Exactly. This isn't the polite introductions thread, it's the opinion thread.

It's not 'hating' really, and the critiques are invited, but sometimes one does wonder whether our eagerness to judge and the tone of some comments here may be indicative of a prevailing judgmental, snobbish attitude outside such threads.

While it's pleasant to look at pretty bikes, showing off would-be perfect ones only results in boosts of confidence and inspirations at best; inflated egos and inflamed envy are just as likely. Maybe if the thread was more "What can I do to improve this bike?" and less "Isn't this bike awesome?" then people would be friendlier. But it's "Hot r Not," so here we are. :)
