Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I kinda like the bike actually. I say that as someone who definitely doesn't like flat black bikes. It's pretty rad.

The grey chainring looks like a piece of military surplus equipment though.

But I kinda like it.

Seriously? Yes THAT mirror. This thread is Hot or Not. I didn't say it was heavy or light or useful or not...... It's ugly in my opinion. Thats all. Nothing personal. That Specialized is hot as I said but would be hotter without that ugly red mirror.

If you can tell the weight of the bikes and accessories in this thread then more power to you. This thread was started way back in 2008 to simply judge a bike by the way that it looks. Nothing else. Not fit, not usefulness and not weight. Just if it looks Hot or Not. Your mirror is NOT. I will say it looks better on the Spech than on that Masi though.

I can guess the weight of most the bikes in this thread pretty closely, so thank you. It is fine you don't like the mirror.

Posts one page back 21956-21965 and some others were about usefulness. You may want to inform those posters as to what this thread is about.

Not- don't like the white handle bar tape and the white bottle cages, with RZR's that should be around a 12lb bike

I'm a big weight weenie so I can appreciate a light bike, but that mirror is an eyesore regardless of how functional it may be for you.

And I am a little offended by 13.7 on your blk/wht evo because 13.6 seems heavy for what I see on that bike. I would have assumed it would be low 13 or even mid to high 12's.

Agreed on both points! Its hard to find a zero offset of thre specialized post, and i didnt realize it was so far setback for me until i got my hands on one second hand locally. The wheels also louder than my own preference, but were just at a price i couldnt turn down.

How so? The white balance loks pretty well adjusted on my monitor.

I will admit I accidentally forgot to change the iso from after I shot indoors, so the photo is pretty grainy, but the colors look right

Well, maybe the white balance is fine; however, at first I thought everything looked too purple, then the yellow on the tires is also very bright, and some parts look much more brown than one would expect - surely your chain wheels, cogs and wheels aren't bronze. Maybe its the light (approaching dusk?), or maybe its just the way digital photos typically intensify EVERY color, and make even dust and sand look colorful and bright. In my book, that's like too much sugar. Which is ironic, because that's a savory bike.

I am a weight weenie sometimes - and sometimes not. That EVO is the regular one. There "would be" an easy 500g to be removed in Hi-mod, stem/hb, cables, cages (those are heavy plastic) and cassette and bolt kit - that would be your high 12. I always use platform pedals. If not, could drop very few grams there. The wheels were light of course, too much flex.

I am confused. All of the bikes you have pictured in the past couple of pages all have clipless pedals not platforms?

I'm not trying to get into a pissing match here by any means, I like your bikes. I was just teasing with the "I was offended" comment. The mirror is an eyesore as far as judging a bike for hotness. When I say eyesore, I mean it is a distraction. Like art, your eye tends to be drawn to certain parts and with your bike, my eye goes straight to the mirror. It doesn't help that it is a totally different color than the bike/bars. If it were black, it might blend in a bit more and not be so distracting. As for your comment above, maybe you do "always" use platform pedals, but the 3 bikes you posted here do not, so whats the deal there? Using platform pedals on ANY of the bikes you posted seems absolutely ludicrous. Unless you are Brumotti or Martyn Ashton, there would be no road bike owner that would have the components and set up you have paired with a set of platform pedals.
