nashbar build FTW, aluminum with crabon forks and tapered headset, vuelta alloy 37mm rims, conti grand sport race 25f/28r fsa cranks, 105 RD and shifters, fizik saddle and matching tape. and yes I know the ugly HR monitor watch is still attached to the bars, not glamorous, but functional on a training ride . . .

Nice bike! I like the understated appearance.

I just got a used 2009 BMC SLC01 Pro Machine. Dura Ace cranks and Sram Force drivetrain. A bit older, but its in good shape and I like it. I can't afford a brand new carbon bike.

I've customized it with UCI "World Champion stripes" to make it resemble the BMC bikes that Cadel Evans and Philippe Gilbert rode back then. Thinking of getting white handlebar tape. (Yes it is a very short stem, I have a short upper body unfortunately)

First of all, thanks, she's my baby! I'm in the same boat as you, would love to be able to afford the best and lightest but she gets the job done.

Plain black and white looks great on your bike as well. The frame looks nice, I'm not sure I'm sold on the look of modern aero frames for everyday road bikes. I like the accent color bars but . . . is that electrical tape?! :roflmao2:

Yes it is ;) It looks good though, apart from where it doesn't perfectly blend in with the original paint, you couldn't really tell the difference from a distance.
You would be surprised how hard it is to find those exact colors electrical tape too ;)

Just to be clear, this opinion comes from a man who's only bicycle in the last 30 years is a Wal-Mart Denali.

Why do people bother posting thumbnail sized photos in this thread?

Host pics on imgur or flickr please.

Completely unrelated. Doesn't matter what he or she rides or doesn't ride.

Excellent lines. Great looking bike. the bottle cages keep it from being an absolute HOT for me though. Get some new ones and you'll be there.

I also can't figure out if I think it'll look even better with silver wheels or not. Trying to picture it. I suppose they have to match the crank though, so, I guess black is good...............for now......

gc3 05-01-16 12:44 PM

Cool. Went with the King bottle cages for functionality...

IFPCL 05-01-16 01:53 PM

I think the cages look good. hot

WhyFi 05-01-16 01:54 PM

Looks pretty sweet, gc3 - what is it?

Edit: nevermind, found it. The OPEN U.P., if anyone else was curious.

I know.

The extra click is annoying.

So I stripped and polished the frame. Maybe not hot, but hotter?

Neither is "hot", but I like the paint-less version better.

sbxx1985 05-01-16 03:28 PM

My local shop just did a similar one.

Not a fan of black bikes (even though I own one...I know), but that's hot.
