Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Are you implying there is something wrong with that?

Got some new cages. I know some people don't care for the gumwall tires, but I love how it looks as it sits now. I have tossed around the idea of going black tires and black chain, but haven't made a conclusion on that decision yet.

Thanks boss! Excited to see yours when it comes in. What colorway did you choose? Or is that a surprise?

It's the black Dura Ace frame (all black with silver logo) and then eTap, SiSL cranks, and enve components.

Everything is set to go, just waiting for the frame to arrive, which should be any day now. The frame was supposed to be here in November but Cannondale pushed everything back to mid December.

As much as I disliked the original SRAM Force groupset I owned, I'm actually considering buying an E-tap kit. If I don't like it, selling it off used(for a profit) wouldn't be tough.

I have Rival on my Mr. Pink and I'm not a fan. eTap is a million times better from my limited experience with it.

But yeah, I figure it'd be easy to swap out if I ever wanted to go to something else.

I've tried eTap for about 20 miles, and it was fine. I love my 6800 groupset, but after 50k miles some components are becoming quite worn.

I've been considering Campagnolo Chorus as a replacement, but an eTap shift kit would be an interesting experiment. If I hate it, it would be an easy flip(because I can get it for OEM cost).

I would totally do it for OEM costing.

Just got the call from the shop, frame is delivered on Tuesday!

Etap is a fantastic product. If could buy a complete Etap red group set at OEM, it would be on all my bikes.

NSFW gold chains and gumwalls or bust. I pity the fool who thinks otherwise.

Why not tan hoods, bar tape and saddle to go with the "gumwalls" and gold chain instead? Someone with a matte black bike should do it....

Beautiful bike and I'd certainly say that it's hot, but I also have to admit that the black/gray/murdered/ghosted is starting to lose its appeal even to me.

I agree 100%. My 2016 emonda sl6 is matte black and it bores the hell out of me when I look at it now I even considered getting the bike vinyl wrapped like you see on so many cars but I don't want to put even more money into it right now. Might just do colored cable housings in the future...

So you can imagine how much my 2009 nude carbon Xenith bores me. I mean, it's fine and I'm not going to hesitate to ride it, but newer bikes that are electric orange or powder blue or whatever make me dream about replacing it for no good/functional reason.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Doesn't mean a bike isn't nice or that I wouldn't ride it, just that a world full of black bikes is boring.

Oh I fully understand that the all black bike has become boring to many people and can say that most all black bikes (with gumwalls or not) have also started to bore me. BUT for me, this has been a dream bike of mine and I have built up this bike with every piece in mind to fit both the image I wanted to complete, as well as have it be a top shelf performaning machine. I still find myself walking out to my garage on a weekly basis to just stare at it. I'm not a person who is comoletely satisfied with my purchases and usually get bored with a purchase within months, leaving me wanting to buy something to replace it. This bike has been quite the opposite in the fact that I'm still in awe after a year of having it.

Just to clarify, I'm not defending my reasoning or bike here at all because the feedback has all been positive. I'm simply stating that I can fully understand when someone says the all black bike has gotten boring. Maybe some day in the near or far future, I too will make that walk out to m7 garage and it just won't do it for me anymore. Till then, I'll enjoy staring at it ;-).
