Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The paint job on the SWorks isn't my cup of tea, but to each their own. Matching the stem and post with a custom paint job is a touch that I often like, but I'm not liking the painted spacers and cone - I think that it detracts rather than adds, for some reason, but I can't exactly put my finger on the why.

You're a photographer, right? Put down your stinkin' cellphone for gawd's sake. grab your macro lens and some strobes or find some good light and get us some decent pictures. Basically, try harder

lol yah. It is (was) a hobby, and one that I haven't kept up with in the last decade or so. To set up some strobes and background would be a major production involving a trip to PA to retrieve certain equipment. Sad but true.

These days, all I have time for is work and ride.

He asked if I wanted them painted and I said sure.... b/c I can always throw on some plain spacers, stem, bars, any time I want. But once the paint is put away, that's it for getting them done.

32t cassette is temporary. It will end up on my SL4 which will be reincarnated as a Red22 climbing build for the really nasty rides like Hincapie or anything over 15% at race pace. This bike will get a 28. I'm going WiFLi on both so I can have total wheel compatibility between bikes.

No garage doors in NYC, not really staged... shot in the wild, so to speak. Oh, and I didn't mount those tires, they came with the wheels.
At least no one will steal it...

I dig the cages. The Emonda is one BA bike. My neighbor has one, and I am envious. Congrats.

By the way, I'd rather see a large stack than one of those massively upward angled stems. Own it.

Did you ask the painter to put the SWORKS that far down the downtube? It looks really wrong to my eyes.
Otherwise,, nice job!

Love the bike, but not "hot" in this picture because:
-spoke card is distracting
-bottle cage doesn't really go with the rest of the bike

And I know this is being pedantic, but the way the "DT Swiss" text isn't centered over the valve on the rims bothers me

I'd love to own a Mr. Pink one day, though. The brooks saddle looks great on it! How does it ride?

Since this thread has strayed away from the generic giants and treks that I know you guys love I will get it back on course.

Trek Emonda S5 (first pic doesnt have the fizik arione saddle and enve seatpost on it. Second does but you cant really see them anyway.)

Giant Propel SL1

Giant Propel SL1

Both extremely hot. IMO, the Emonda is about as unimpeachable as they come.

Is part of that ass beating due to the fact that the front of your saddle is pointing at your front hub?

It was that, or have the hump numbing off lil Johnny Jr. That saddle is just not appropriate for the amount of drop in the build.

Changed it out for my white SLR Carbonio. White lizard skin tape enroute for tomorrow. That and titanium skewers will get the weight back down to 15.25, with the chromo pedals and plastic cages.

Cages and titanium pedals get it back to 15 flat... but dunno if I'll actually drop the cash for that.

Competing schools of thought on that. In the end it was placed lower to leave the paint detail as exposed as possible, with the SWorks going just above chainring height.

An outline Sworks left more paint detail which sounded better in theory. But it didn't pop, not at a distance, not in a pack, and really not even just parked somewhere. It just didn't actually work in practice. So we went with solid logos.

nothing really wrong with the Emonda, but nothing hot about its appearance.

The Giant is filthy hot. It's like a woman that would scratch all your records, ruin your credit, and leave you smiling.

Ahh, now I see it. The design behind the DT logo gets less busy the closer it is to the BB shell, so I can see how lowering the logo to the place where it is actually benefits the overall look. Nice job.

Also, I love green, so there's that.
