Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Great bike. How much does it weigh?

I think those BikesDirect Fens cost $700 shipped. I have an earlier blue one that I'm just now replacing the wheels on and want to get a compact crank to replace the triple. They really ride smoothly.

Looks good, but it looks like you could use a setback seatpost. Also, some new bottle cages maybe? I think the Tacx Tao would look good on there.

my bike? its nearly all the way forward on a zero offset i dont see how a setback would work for me (as i changed from a setback in order to move it forward enough to fit my anatomy)

Why would you say that? The saddle looks like it is already far forward on a 0 offset......

Forget my setback seatpost comment, my brain has apparently stopped working.

My fens still weighs in at just under 22 lbs with it race ready (No bottles, no saddle bag, etc). Definitely not the lightest bike but it gets the job done. I will most likely upgrade at the end of the season. If I could drop 5 lbs on the bike, that would help a ton (since I weigh 140lbs and can't really lose much more). At least I got it looking somewhat good though.

I'm really surprised yours weighs that much. I've never weighed mine but it doesn't feel that heavy, though I'm close to 200lbs so maybe it's just relative. Good luck on the new bike to come.

Oh I built the bike myself. In fact this is its third or fourth incarnation....7800 then 6600 then back to 7800 then SR11 then 7900....
By wallet bike I mean there is nothing on it that is custom built or has any panache like a fancy Pinarello frame or Lightweights. My bike looks like any other bike on any bike rack at any LBS and thats just fine by me

There's a new 3T fork that is tapered, to 1.5" and another to 1.25" I believe. There's a PRO version @ 380 grams and an LTD @ 295 grams or so.

You could save 320+ grams with the LTD fork, just a matter of waiting until it's being sold(not long I guess).

I'm embarassed to know this, but once you get into the weight weenie side of this hobby/sport it is not uncommon for it to cost anywhere from $1 to $5 per gram of weight loss.
