Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well...if you insist on sullying Parlee ghost matte stealth by keeping the stem with the funky red stripe, you might as well use red brakes...and hubs...no half-stepping.

Yup, I like it!

My stable needs something like this, for more casual riding or hopping from place to place. My old 'cross commuter is in a state of total disrepair.

super hot...trotting out the big guns...nice blending of white and black, even the cranks look good, but then I admit my bias towards Parlee?

Nothing wrong with locking it up at all. However, for the purposes of this thread, there are certain aesthetic guidelines.

Remove anything extraneous from the bike. Bidons, blinkies, saddle bags, etc.
Clean your steed. Dirt and rust etc isn't hot.
Take a clear photo in front of a neutral background. White garage door, grey cinder block wall... something like that.
Chain in the big ring up front, small cog in the back. Seat level, crank set extending from the chainstay if possible, valve stems at 6 o'clock.

The picture should be all about the bike with nothing to distract from it.

As far as what to change on your bike? Maybe blue or white bar tape to match the accents on your seat right off the top of my head.

I'm not sure how to take that from a guy with blue headset spacers.

The stem with the red stripe will be temporary. It is a 110 but I believe I am going to need a 120 on this bike. Hubs will be red and carbon, not much I can do about that right now.

I'm not a fan of frozen rim brakes riding on slushy gravel. OTOH, this thread is all about cosmetics after all.

It's a road bike. A gravel road bike that also sees some pavement duty.

No, it was a loaner I was using to determin size. This is Bob Parlee's personal bike.

I guess his lack of industry knowledge and experience must have led him to the dreadful mistake of selecting a Sram group set.

Some people try the new stuff when it comes out(simply because they can). I did this, and quickly realized that SRAM is junk.

FWIW, I've worked in the industry a lot longer than than he has. You may also notice that Parlee doesn't manufacture component groups. His expertise is frame design/manufacturing.

Personally, I like it. aesthetics aside. My research into gravel bikes is underway. With this pic, there's a lot to be said for "road hard and put away wet"....
