Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Some people spend too much time worrying about how their bike looks rather than riding.

Fair enough. However, taste or visual appeal is subjective. I'm completely smug with the choices I've made concerning my bike. I can appreciate everybody's opinion, but in the end, I didn't build this bike for others.

I did but I'm not going to change anything because of this thread. LOL, let me buy some Arundel cages because someone on the internet didn't like my choice in cages.

Methinks you protesteth too much. Nobody really cares whether you like the feedback you get in this particular thread. To the contrary, when someone gets their back up because they don't like the negative comments (like this case), it gets a little interesting. If you just want folks to look at your bike without commenting as to whether or not they like how it looks, there's another thread https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ke-do-you-have

I'm still kicking myself for not buying more than one Cutter (Competitive Cyclist house brand) carbon bottle cage when they were on sale for like $12. There isn't anything about it I don't like (aside from only having one).

I like the bike. I hate the camera angle. Please take a photo from a height equal or higher than your handlebars.

FWIW - i have no problems with the cages. But the can crusher you have on top of the stem needs to go. Its like walking around in a nice suit with the price tag hanging off the back

Really? I've got carbon cages and they've never marked up my bottles, they've never broken, and yep they're light and look good. Seriously, do some cages have problems with all of these things?? I ride with a bunch of guys and I think they all have carbon cages and no one ever has a broken cage or drops a bottle unless they drop it…?? Strange, it's almost like complaining about helmets falling off peoples head so they've decided to simply wear construction hardhats while cycling instead. Huh?

I'm not a huge fan of the paint job but the white is a nice touch. IMO, the SLR01 looks a lot better.

I usually leave a cm or two on top of the stem for resale purposes.

Carbon cages look great but IME, they tend not to hold bottles well. I'd rather have the extra insurance of a traditional cage.

Lol, thanks! It's got a 130mm on there right now but I'll probably go back to a 120.

Arundel plastic ones are fairly inexpensive, hold the bottle well and look cool.

Arundel carbon ones cost about the same as a bike from Walmart.. but they work well and look really cool.

i think that stainless steel cages have a nice aesthetic

obviously they work too, which seems to be secondary to the bottle cage market.
