Who else sucks in the morning?
When I ride in the morning it is like I am dragging a load of bricks up the first hill.
Take today for example out on the road at 8:30 am, 6 mile warm up then up the first hill ( 3 miles 1400 ) Feels so bad I stopped and checked to make sure the brakes were not dragging after I got to the top. Five hours of riding and another 4000 of climbing later I go up the same hill, in the same gear, carrying the same amount of water, and to boot it is now in the 80s It feels so much better.

If I couldn't ride until 10:30am, that'd be like half the year I couldn't ride here at all.
6:00am - 6:30am is the general start time out this way in the summer...

You need to get over it. Don't eat, get the **** up, and kill it. I can match power records at 6am, 12pm, or 8pm, as needed. I just tell my brain to shut up, and let my legs and lungs figure it out.
Niiiice! Didn't even cross my mind on first read...
EDIT: just realized the gif was converted to jpg... animation fixed for your joker enjoyment.

I'm the same way. I tried the morning ride thing and however appealing it was from a practical standpoint, I felt terrible.

How cold/wet is it when you ride first thing? For me, some of the best riding is first thing in the morning -- air is fresh, the roads are quiet....

I'm trying to get better at morning rides but I find the whole eating thing strange. It's bad if I eat and I am freaked out if I don't eat. I'm fine for morning races, but I usually have 3-4 hours to eat since I have to drive to all my races.

I can't exercise in the morning. Morning practices were always the worst. 7:30am triathlon starts suck. I'm a night owl, all of my best riding is done in the evening.

I don't see how you can feel bad in the mornings. Eat well the night before and get a good nights rest. I wake up at 6.30 on weekends and group ride starts at 8 and it takes from 5-20 minutes for me to get to the start location depending on where it is. Once the ride starts I feel great. Riding in the after noon also feels nice but morning just feels so much nicer.

I have to eat at least an hour before. And I usually just have a bagel with very little cream cheese. It's one of the few things my stomach can handle and doesn't want to throw up while I'm riding.
I also need to warm up for at least 30 minutes in the mornings till I can really start mashing on gears. While in the evenings my warm ups are usually much shorter. But I normally ride early mornings mostly because I like to avoid people/cars and I don't like riding at night. Also most group rides are in the early morning.

I usually feel like crap for my first 20 or so miles in the morning, then I start to feel much better. It all depends on your natural metabolism.

Just eat. Try some yogurt, granola or oatmeal about an hour before you ride. You should be fine.

Oh you pathetic, misguided, lost weenies. True Self Loathing isn't tethered to some earthly constraint like a clock. Cycling Zen can only be achieved upon the realization that you SUCK ALL THE TIME.

Yeah, seriously I'm pretty worthless in the morning. Absolutely hate working out in the morning. My best climbs (rock climbing) and rides are done after noon.
To be honest, I love it! There are less people doing these activities in the afternoon for the most part because it seems like everyone else works out in the morning.

While it may be true that I suck all the time (I should get self-loathing points for that), I do suck less after noon and reach my best potential around 4-6pm.
