Silver bar tape..sexy or tacky?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Silver bar tape..sexy or tacky?

Black and silver Orbea Onix.

Silver bar tape.....equals sexy bike from the heart of the Pyrenees, or equals
"look at me, look at me, I am tacky)??

My riding partner rides a silver/black system six with the silver tape. It looks fine to me, but it wouldnt be my first choice. I wouldnt spend money just to get rid of it though....

I don't think it looks tacky.

Tacky would be my race rig, it has white bar tape on it and screams 'look at me I'm a pretentious ***!' But hey, that's just me.

No one will care. Neutral colors are neither sexy nor tacky.

I never liked silver bar tape much, until I saw 55/rad's bike.

If it's on a flourescent orange and green bike with a blue saddle, it may not go very well.

But in this case, it seems to work out just fine.

I think gray bar tape is a very classic conservative look and goes well with any frame color.

Silver is tacky. If you want to go light, go white.

I'm not a fan of silver tape... it's a personal preference, the owner/rider is the one that has to look at it every day.

I have silver tape on my black + silver CR1. I like it!

I think that is Cinelli tape in the photo - not as nice as Fizik or Pro tape. If you REALLY want to bling it up, a few companies now make "chrome" silver tape for the serious mirror look.

Two years ago, when I started riding again I never thought I would be associated with guys who actually think things like handlebar tape and helmets are sexy. I think some of you may want to pop over to the "Chick in Flip flops thread" to be reminded what a woman looks like.
