Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Coolest/weirdest thing you have seen on your Bike????

Hello All,

I saw this on another thread (yes I do follow a few others). Anyway, what is the coolest/weirdest thing you have seen while riding your bike? I have no exciting stories or anything but just the normal deer and fox sightings etc. I did see a pack of wild turkeys one time, I was looking for the 6 legged turkey that they give a leg away during the FOX Thanksgiving football. What is your best?

Pacing a few deer on some local doubletrack (Lief Ericsson Dr, Forest Park, Portland, OR). I was on a mild downhill portion of the trail on a weekday and there weren't many other people on the trail. They came out of the forest and started to trot in the same direction I was traveling. I was coasting downhill so they didn't hear me until the trail started back uphill, At that point it was pedal or stop so they heard me and darted back into the forest. They were about 300 feet in front of me and I followed them for at least a quarter mile. It was a nice weekday and there weren't many other people in the park that day.

a pack of six or so horses that had escaped their farm (i'm guessing)... it was early morning, and they were just as freaked to see us as we were them. they were hanging out in front of a house, looking lost.

they ran off down the road, to where i dunno. it was cool tho.

At the time had I been 10 yards further up the road and on the sidewalk, I would have been under both
