Bought some Assos today
Thanks to botto for the rec. I was in my local Bianchi dealer looking for a cross bike for my wife and saw a selection of Assos, found a pair of FI:13 S2 bibs in my size and snapped them up.
Haven't ridden in them yet but they sure fit purdy. Bought a new cyclocross bike too, Kona Jake The Snake for $500 :D |
i got some assos mille s5 about two weeks ago. they are quite nice, but not as comfy as my gore bibs. i'm also a bit embarrassed about having spent $230 on a product that can't live up to the $100 bibs i ride otherwise. i'm not sure if the assos logo is a status symbol or a sign that i'm a sucker.
i will ride them but not buy another pair. |
I just got some Assos F1 UNO S5. Haven't tried it on a ride yet but I noticed a big difference between my Santini Bibs fit wise and comfort wise. Looking forward wearing it this weekend.

I just got the 2008 Assos FI Mille S5 bibb shorts and I rode with them last Sunday. I paid $220. They are quite well designed, functional, and comfortable. The new design is even more comfortable with the improved chamois which places less pressure on my privates than the last design. I paid $220 plus tax. That is expensive, but it is worth it to me. I highly recommend Assos cycling shorts. They fall into 3 different price points depending upon the model.

Got the S5 Uno's.
Love the chamois - it's friggin huge! Which is nice because I was getting cut up at the tops of my thighs by the seams of my other shorts, I don't think I can ever go back. Fabric is delicate, not the bullet-proof feel of cheap $40 bibs - but it's waaay more breathable than anything I've ever tried. I think it's give and take here. Anyone crash on Assos bibs yet? Trashed? Gonna get more for sure - but I might also look to get a pair of Rapha [depending on their chamois size]. |
i absolutely love the FI:13 S2 i picked up from Competitive Cyclist when they were clearing them out. the fit, the chamois, the feel. very nice product. later.

I have the older Mille shorts with the 360 chamois and they are the best bibs I have ever worn bar none. I didn't pay full freight which makes it all that much better.

^^^^ i paid $165 plus shipping for mine. at that price it was a no brainer for me to make the jump to bibs and give them a try. i have a pair of the Assos Equippes too (Mille Chamois), which are great for the really long hauls. to round out my bib collection i picked up some PI Ultrasensors. wow, what a difference. after the 30 mile mark the PI's really start to attack my junk. seriously. :) later.
