I'm scared of recumbents
Every time I see one of those goofy ass things coming at me on the MUP, they're always swerving out of control going about 10 mph. God damnit.
|
Wait till one of those goofy ass things drops you - then who'se goofy?
|
I never seem to find them around here... maybe I'm one of the lucky ones.
|
Just look at them as a 3 wheeled hospital gurney for cyclists with tender butts.
|
Ride your road bike...on the road. Reduces chance encounters with 'bents.

I use the path to get to where I'm going, not work out. Now get back on topic.

The thing about recumbent bikes is that they can weild two "self-defence" weapons at the same time wile riding, instead of the usual one , or mounted single-barrel. Better weapons means more chances of staying alive.
|
Plus you could mount s gun rack on thr back of one
|
If you can't stand the user, stay off the MUP!
I have more troubles with the wobbly upright riders riding 3 abreast when I'm trying to go fast enough to keep my legs from seizing up. I didn't see any particularly wobbly riding last weekend, even during the Light Parade: http://www.recumbentretreat.org/phot....php?cat_id=42 http://www.recumbentretreat.org/phot...p?image_id=389 |

ya man.. everytime i see one ... someone in the peloton yells .. FREAK... (in an Adam Sandler movie type of voice.) |
Its amazing how quickly the 'bent riders come out of the woodwork to lambast anyone talking about a run-in with a 'bent.
|
Recumbents aren't scary, their riders on the other hand...:D
|
they're dangerous, i had a guy on one with a full fairing silently latch on to my wheel a while back. never knew he was there till he overlapped me and almost took me out. i stayed upright and managed to turn around to see him sliding across the road in his bondo rig. he put a huge gouge in my still fairly new rear campy zonda. i was ready to kill the old fart, but he looked so pathetic laying there in his little aerodynamic coffin, i just rode away.
i hate em. period. |

Every time I see one I think of Randy the Recumbulator. |

It's the cycling equivalent of the assistant manager at Mickey D's. They think they're hot shti just because they're barely out of the muck at the bottom. Presuming they've made it that far. Most are just idiot kids. |
The ones where you feet are below your ass are fine...rode one myself...had no problems keeping it steady at slow speeds.
Yet nowadays - I pass guys in the new ones where you feet are freaking kissing the clouds...and damn the things are unstable....they literally wobble all over the freaking place when going slower than 15 MPH... It has gotten to the point where I get really nervous passing them in my car on Woodside Road here in Bay Area, CA... One time I came up on one that was wobbling so bad - +/- 3' feet of centerline that I literally cruised for a mile behind just waiting for the upcoming stop sign..... =8-( |

What I find amazing is that I have yet to meet anyone who can ride worth a damn that would dis someone purely on the basis of the geometry of one of their bikes.

Most are just idiot kids. I'm not saying all recumbulators are poor bike (?) handlers, but none of them near me can ride in a straight line to save their lives. And the geometry on some recumbents is pretty whack, like the 20" front 24" rear underseat steering with a short wheelbase. Ultimate sketch. |
