Ridley Orion vs Argon 18 Krypton vs Kestrel Evoke

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ridley Orion vs Argon 18 Krypton vs Kestrel Evoke

Three choices: I can only get one.

I lost my 2005 Kestrel evoke in an unfortunate meeting with a Toyota Previa Minivan. Insurance paid for the frame and some other stuff budget is $1500.

I will be transferring my Campagnolo Record Group, FSA SLK crank, Neuvation r28 SL5's and Keo pedals over to the new frame.

Choices:

1. 2007 Kestrel Evoke Red (mostly red) 56cm $999 Free shipping No tax online

2. 2008 Argon 18 Krypton Red white and Black (Mostly White) $1200 plus tax $1295

3. 2008 Ridley Orion Black red and Silver (mostly Black) $1400 plus tax $1511

My feelings:
1. Kestrel - I know and love the Kestrel but I don't exactly love the new paint. Rides great fits great.

2. Argon 18 - Badass looking bike but seems a little soft in performance vs comfort area.

3. Ridley - Raciest stiffest, probably the best frame in the group also the most boring looking.

I don't race but ride lots of miles on the weekends and with the local saturday morning hammerhead crew.

Performance , aesthetics, and comfort are my requests in that order.

Any and all opinions are welcome. Suggestions for similar frames under $1500 also.

your opinion is the one that counts, everyone on BF is a fred. if your helmet matches your bike frame your a fred.

anyways i really like the 2008 Ridley Orion Black, its simple clean and looks fast, i'd just get ride of the ridley.com deceal. imo all black bikes look like crap, but with this paint scheme you can have some fun with tires, bartape, helmet, ect.

i think 1 is to bland with the paint job it looks like lemond, but the octagon-shape frame makes it look like a titanium bike.(for the money your spending you might want to consider a titanium frame, won't snap like carbon wait another paycheck or two) #2 looks like your sponcered with the logos, the colour scheme, ect. you better have a matching bib, shoes, jersey, ect so you don't look like a cheap poser fred. (2 looks like it would have the least flex)

also Orion sounds alot sexier than a mispelled kryptonite. ladies will be droping panties when they see "Orion" they will be wishper to there girlfreind, i bed that cyclist has a big black you know what to do with his buns of steal.

Wow. This seems like a no brainer. Just research Sandpoint Design, Kestrel's history in the introduction and development of the carbon fiber frame and fork, and reflect on your own experience with the ride and fit.

I'll put another plug in for the Ridley Excalibur. Looks like you can grab one for $1300.

the Ridley looks the best by far of the three. I don't know how it rides though.
What happened to Kestrel? That paintjob is ugly.

One more vote for the Excalibur. I almost bought the Orion but got the Excalibur for a couple hundred more. Now there are Excaliburs on closeout.

Campy record on the Orion would be a little over-killish.
