Time to HTFU
Tropical Storm Fay is just sitting and spinning. Dumping as much as 24 inches of rain. My backyard is flooding. A couple of pics are below, and one with it on a normal day to give perspective.

We're lucky. A number of people's houses are flooding, and several local hospitals are flooded.
With 50mph winds, torrential rain, flooding, tornados, down tree limbs, and electircal wires riding outside would be a bit dicey. So its off to the trainer.

Merlin-
I went out for a 35 miles ride this afternoon with the "holiday" of a University that is closed. My route was an out-and-back, but it didn't work out quite like that. On the way back I had to detour because of a downed tree that completely blocked everything. It wasn't there on my way out. In fact there was a second downed tree that blocked everything, but I was able to climb over and thorough it with my bike and continue on.
The detour route was a limerock road that was a total quagmire, so I rode in the grass. At least the roots kept the soil together somewhat.
Of course I wore my HTFU wrist band. The only "wussy" thing about the ride was that I rode my 1986 Cannondale that is now my commuter bike because I didn't want to subject my good bikes to this kind of weather. I also wore my old Dettos because the C'dale still has toeclips. They were still wet from riding yesterday evening.
All told I had a blast!

good work. I'll take the mental torture of the trainer.

I'd rather ride in a tropical storm than ride a trainer.
I forgot to write about the scariest thing on this ride. A couple of weeks ago I got caught in an unbelievable thunderstorm with LOTS of very close cloud to ground lightning. On that ride I found shelter in a shack. Today's ride went past that shack and it was flattened. I didn't get a good look, but I think that a huge live oak branch came down and leveled it.

Yup, I'm in Jacksonville too. (Atlantic Beach actually). At least we haven't lost power for more than 10 minutes at a time. hoping Fay passes in time for the club ride tomorrow but it doesn't look promising.

Top of a Oak came down in the front yard and took out one of three 25 year old Sato palms , then a Elm tree from nextstore spiked the back fence . Other than that just just bits and peices of Oak trees everywere.
