How do these older LOOK Pedals compare to SPDs: Opinions Wanted
I currently use Shimano SPDs on all my bikes (including MTBs). I use SPD model 505 on my main road bike. I also like to mess around with some vintage bikes and recently purchased two bikes with LOOK pedals. I was ready to sell them on CL when I thought maybe I should come here and ask about them before I sell.
Please share with me, what are the advantages of LOOK pedals compared to SPDs? I can only identify one, LOOK pedals weigh significantly less. On the negative side, it seems when I'm riding in groups, the folks with LOOK pedals seem to take longer to clip in, but that my be only a perception. So what are the advantages of LOOK?
BTW, I'm posting a pic of the two sets of pedals along with one of the sets of Shimano pedals I'm using. Note, the regular LOOK road pedals are about 10 years old and the other LOOK set are a combo flat on one side and a pedal that accepts a cleat on the other.
I have a spare set of old road shoes so I could buy some cleats and use these if there is a distinct advantage. Thanks for any comments.

unless you wear worn out clothing, ride a worn out bike that squeaks I wouldn't bother riding those pedals. If you want look, just buy some of their newer pedals.

Those old looks look like hell.
Look for some new looks that look better.

Thanks for the input. As I said, I know 0 about LOOK pedals. I guess I'll just stay with Shimano.

I ride on some original Look "ARC" pedals. They're older than the ones you have in the center of the pic (slightly different design w/ a longer spindle). They don't "squeak" or ride loose on the spindle. The bearings are probable better than anything currently on the market too.
I'd find the little disassembly tool somewhere and check out & regrease the bearings. The cleats are cheap (sub $15) so if you have an extra pair of shoes then you aren't out a whole lot.
Barring that, fleabay the "ARC's" and toss the others into the recycle bin.
