Powercontrol V - Testing whether it works?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Powercontrol V - Testing whether it works?

Hi folks,

I'm relatively new to the site, as I am to cycling (I'm actually buying my first bike tomorrow, a Fuji). Recently, I received a bunch of spare biking parts from my step-father, who received the parts from a kind competitive racer who gave away a ton of his equipment. One of the things I received, which may seem random, is a "Powercontrol V" head unit. I have absolutely no use for the thing, as I only have the head unit, so I'm looking to put it on eBay or sell it to someone who could make use of it.

The problem is, I don't know if it works. It looks brand new, without a single scratch on it from what I can see, but because I don't have the whole unit, I don't know how to test if it works.

Any advice on this? Am I pretty much out of luck with testing it without the whole system? From what I've read online, the head units are virtually indestructible, but I want to be sure it works before getting rid of it.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice on this completely random topic. I just have no reason to hold on to this thing, so I figured I might as well get some advice on what to do with it.

-Josh
