Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Good deal or not?

I just won a 2006 Dura-Ace 7801 wheelset with 1500 mi. Seller included 11-23 (which I wanted) Ultegra cassette with 300 miles on it and new Conti 4 season tires. Advertised as in True. 400 w/ shipping. I had been trying to purchase a pair of Mavic Ksyrium SL on ebay but kept getting outbid. This wheelset wasn't getting much attention and I think for the new tires and cassette the price seemed about right since I would of had to buy another cassette. Plus you can't find pr2 or krylion carbons anywhere and I didn't want to try the pr3 from some negative reviews.

Good deal or overpaid?

bump... thoughts? Besides the da wheels being hard to work on I think it's a good deal. I just always get buyers remorse on big things so let me know others opinions!

Are you OK with people telling you that you got a bad deal after you bought it? I don't really want to know if I got overpaid or not after I paid. That's just me though.

Yeah mainly interested because I read a lot a mixed opinions about the Dura-ace wheels. If they are problem prone I could probably get 250-300 for them and recoup the rest in the new tires and cassette. And then shop for a wheelset and use the cassette and tires from that deal.

Decent enough deal. I bought a set of DA 7801 on scambay for $337 no cassette, no tires, no rim strips. I only have maybe 400 miles on the wheels and no issues. I think the no j-bend spoke design is a plus. Every time someone has snapped a spoke on rides it has been at the j-bend. Nice wheels.
