Sugoi?
Does anyone wear any of Sugoi's stuff? I had never even heard of the brand until I got my team jersey, and I just got the team bibs I ordered today. Both of them are from the RS line, and this stuff is great! The jersey fits perfectly and the material is very lightweight yet very substantial, for lack of better words to describe it. These are my first bib shorts, and I already like them alot after a short ride today. And at the prices I'm paying (I got the jersey for free but my team charges $25 and $35 for the shorts) I can stock up on a few pairs and rotate between them instead of washing them every day and not spend an insane amount money. Anyone else like Sugoi's clothing?

I've got one set of jersey and shorts from them.
Fits nice and the seams are well done. I only know that: these are for summer and the chamois only works well on one of the saddles I have. |
I still have quite a bit of their stuff from when I lived in Vancouver and my company had a reciprocal pro purchase agreement with them. I love my Assos and Rapha stuff, but the Sugoi is far cheaper and has lasted many years now.

Good stuff, used them for shorts and socks.

I have a pair of Sugoi shorts. They are my favorite pair.

Also try American-made Kucharik . . . been selling cyclewear since 1932!
|
Sugoi rules i wear RS bibs and love them!!!
|
Most of their stuff runs real freaking small though. My size small RS bibs are rather a bit snug. And the chamois is very strange. Had this foam piece that wasn't attached properly and came of in the washing machine.

REI.com often has Sugoi stuff on closeout/sale. I have several items I bought that way and like them.
|
Team is sponsored by Sugoi and I love the stuff. That is an awesome deal on the RS stuff, I still have to pay $60 for a pair of shorts and that is a great deal!
|
I have a pair of Sugoi bibs.. I wear them more than my Assos, Gore and Izumi bibs
|
yeah I have sugoi stuff, I like it, it's nice stuff, I have most of their jersey's
and I have their Evolution, and I have their RS as well. next year sugoi is going full race stuff, so race hats and everything else. |
My Sugio RS bibs are my favorite. Fabulous chamios and fit.

In the 90's my shop was the #1 Sugoi dealer in BC/Alberta. We sold tons of the stuff.
It was well made, well priced and the quality improved every year. Some of their jersey designs were...well...fugly, but their custom stuff was first rate. |
My team uses Sugoi. We have the formula fx chamois and I have never had any complaints with the shorts. They changed the cut and material of the jersey this year and that was a little bit disappointing. However, the shop that sponsors our team used Hincapie for the shop clothing this year. I finally got one of those kits about a month ago and feel that the shorts and jersey fit much better and are a much higher quality. I am currently in the process of trying to talk the President and the VP of the club into ordering Hincapie next year.

I've got a pair of Sugoi bibs that are excellent -- but a bit on the small size.
I don't remember where I got them, or how much I paid, but as I recall it wasn't expensive. Good quality. Same with a Sugoi jersey -- lightweight, good material. |
I have a pair of RS bibs. I really like them! Especially when they can be found for $100.
|
I like the Sugoi Evolution bibs. Price is cheap. Construction is excellent. The padding is kind of thick, but the contour fits it fits me pretty well.
Note that Dorel Industries, Inc. bought Sugoi (and Cannondale) in February 2008. I don't know how that will affect the product lines and product quality (of either company). |
I have an old Sugoi jacket that turns into a vest without detaching the sleeves. Very clever.

I have ridden in nothing but RS shorts and bibs for the past 3 years (previously RS Flex). I've tried others but nothing beats 'em.

i was going to pick up some of those hammer bibs but after reading this thread i figured i'd be better off getting a pair of the rs bibs
any good online retailers that sell them? so far i've found teamcyclist although they want close to retail. |
Love my Sugoi Rs Bibs with the formula fx chamois. This is the only bib I have ever owned that I never have to adjust the chamois while riding even on a 50-60 mile ride. they do run tight but I think that contributes to the chamois staying in place . My only complaint is the material on one of my pairs is piling or fraying a little where it rubs the saddle. I just got a pair of 2008's. some of the materials seem slightly different leg grippers and stitching, both better. so hopefully they will hold up a little longer. still my favorite bib shorts.

Ride on Sugoi
I currently have half a dozen Sugoi bibs (this and the last generation RS, two Evolution), all of which fit well (once you figure out which size works best - they do tend to run about one US size smaller than some other brands I wear) and have held up remarkably well. They are durable, paneled nicely, and I greatly prefer the formula FX chamois that the majority of mine have. It may be too thick for some people, but it is my clear favorite on the longer length rides I take. I have 3 Sugoi jerseys as well, which have also worked well. They are not as sleek or sexy as some other brands, but they hold up well, wick decently, and tend to cost 30-40% less than the better known name brands (i.e., Assos, Craft, etc.). I'm hoping the recent purchase of the company won't "cheapen" Sugoi's approach to their kit.

i have their rs flex bibs and love them. other than the small sizing (even for european sizing standards) they are great.
the chamois is top notch. |
They make nice head warmers too. That's the only bit I have of theirs, and when I ride (once the sun's up), its never below 35F here in January or February so YMMV
