I just got these in today...

I have a few questions for anyone that might know...

The max inflation is 130psi...I run 145 psi in my 20mm Continental gp4000....do I need to go back to 130?

Next they are 24 spoke. My current wheels are 28 spoke...I did weight a bit more earlier in the season but now I am at 200 and will probably dip a little more..

This is the note they have on the site.

"NOTE: Over 190lbs? You probably need the Stallion build."

Think I will be ok?

I was told that in a 20mm tire needed to be aired up higher...I started at 130 and got a pinch flat so I started going up I ended at 145...it seems to work but if I need to go back to 130 I will give it a shot...

You are obviously too fat for those wheels. Better send them to me so I can use them until you get to a lower weight :D

I haven't not listened yet. I got them for a great price. Part of the deal was I could not request anything. I got what I got sort of thing. :) looks like I need to drop 10 pounds of fat and 15 pounds of air. I will post pics when I get them on.

I read that you obtain more benefit from the wider c2 23 mm wide rim if you run a lower tire pressure around 90 or so if I remember correctly. go do some research online.

At your weight a larger volume tire would only benefit you in ride characteristics...20's are abusive on all but the smoothest streets even at my 165 pounds. When I swap over the 23's the ride becomes much more buttery. Same brand tire, same wheels. Give it a shot.

Looking for a really smooth tire with nothing but supple ride quality and great grip in a 23? Gommitalia Calypso K's are heaven! I always ride the skinwall version and it's, hands down, my favorite tire.

Why are you asking us when you don't want to take the advice of the wheel builder? It looks to me like you're shopping around for somebody who will tell you what you want to hear.

I called HED today and they said usually take 20% off the pressure..I think we settled on 110. We will see...they also said I would be fine at 200.

The reason I ride 20's is the seat stays are so close that if the rear wheel flexes at all the tire will rub the side of the frame. Going to a 20 solved this problem for me....I will take the harsher ride for keeping the tire out of the frame.

I plan on getting a new frame this winter...maybe in the next few months. If the seat stays are wider then I will go back to a 23.

You'll be fine at 200, but I wouldn't ride them daily. And switch to 23's, that's what the C2 is made for. I have the 60's and 90's and love them. I like them quite a bit better than my Stingers they replaced.

Here a pic. I doubt I was faster but they were lighter than my old wheels. Very comfortable at 110 psi and great cornering. Nothing bad to say about the wheels at all. I might get a 90 next year for my TT bike and swap the front back and forth. Also running the 20mm GP4000 feels great...I see no reason to go to a 23 at this point..

Try the 23--you'll likely change your mind, and at your size you'll probably be faster on the 23's due to a smoother ride.

With a different frame I would consider it....with this frame there is no way it would work..note taken though... :)

Off subject... but that's a kick ass bike. Looks good with the wheels.

There is no reason for you to need 145psi to avoid pinch flats. You might be at risk of blowing the tire off the rim from pressure alone. I'm 250 and I run 115-120 rear/105-110 front with 23mm Michelins on Ksyriums. I also went with 24f/28r spoked Zipps. I have only flatted once in the last 2 years and that was definitely a road object. I would have gone with more spokes and wider tires but you'll probably be okay depending how you ride. Probably just isn't a word that instills confidence bombing down a hill at 45mph.

Be careful going with high psi's - the tire can maybe take it but the rim might not (rim has to contain the tube too). My Open Pro rims are rated to around 140psi I think, and I never get that close because that high of psi makes the tire feel like crap IMO. Also, in a clincher I hate anything narrower than a 23 - at least that I've tried. Feels jittery or something.

Sometimes I wonder whether some riders associate that "jittery" feel as the feeling of "speed" and believe they are going faster (computer to the contrary).
